Show and Tell Napkins

When my friend Candy had our friendship tea a couple of weeks ago, one of my friends, Melody brought me a precious gift. She has an embroidery machine and made me these lovely cream napkins with tea items embroidered on each one. There is a teapot, teacup, sugar and creamer. I think they are just precious!

I think they will be perfect with my tea set that my husband bought me a while back. That will be a future Tablescape!
I am off now to see all the other wonderful contributions to Kelli's Show and Tell Friday....see you there!

Beautiful Surprise!

Came home after my chemo treatment and went straight, and I do mean straight to bed. I slept 3 hours. I do not usually do that, but I think it was all the emotional stuff....I feel fine though, so far! When I woke up and came into the kitchen there was this beautiful arrangement waiting for me. I thought my hubs had gone out and got me flowers. He said, they are not from me!!!
What a wonderful surprise when I saw they were from my niece Lori on my husband's side. She has grown into such a beautiful and lovely young woman. I was beyond thrilled that she would be so sweet and take the time to do such a lovely thing for me on such a difficult day! A memory I will always cherish. Lori's precious mom, my sister-in-law Sue, passed away about 2 years ago, from cancer and way too soon.

I believe they are Gerber daisies....and the orange....my favorite color!!

The Lord sends blessings every day...even days we don't look forward to!

So Much Fun Saturday!!

I have been waiting for this day for a few weeks now....so I got up early, fixed myself as cute as I could, went and got my nails done and then.... I started driving to my fun destination. These figures are about 10 feet, or maybe more on the corner of a farm. In the 13 years I have lived here I have said, I have to get a picture of those someday...well, today was someday! I drove a little farther to Claim Jumpers to meet my friend for lunch....

It is Liz from Rose Vignettes! Oh my goodness....we had such a good time! we barely could take time to order anything to eat! But of course, we did manage it... and then, I had another fun time cuz I got to take Liz to....

YEP, that was me! She had never been there. Well upon walking in the door the sound from her was somewhere between an OH, AH, UH!!!! We who love Hobby Lobby know that feeling. Well we walked around for about an hour and a half and then we had to get home....really, we probably could still be there!

After that I was so thirsty! I stopped at Taco Bell for one of their Strawberry Colata Freezes. Have you tried these??? Well, just warning you, aside from the brain freeze with the first few sips....they are YUMMY!

Liz brought me this adorable gift she made for me. It is breathtaking. Brown velvet ribbon and a gorgeous cameo in the center. I love it!
If you haven't visited with Liz be sure to stop at her blog! She is very talented and has a lovely home!
Seriously.....today was WAY fun!

Inside my mustache cup

I got this old mustache cup at a garage sale years ago. It says Present. I am thinking that means gift and not Accounted for!!

Anyways...inside I keep some of my vintage jewelry pieces. I have had many conversations with myself over these pieces. I don't wear them....some of them are so small, I don't know if they would fit my granddaughter! But I just cannot bear to part with them. Some sort of therapy needed here I am sure!

Seriously, this bracelet is about 5" long!
Some have been given to me, and most of those are blue....People always want me to have blue jewelry because of my big blue eyes.

This one was hard to get, but hey, wouldn't it be nice if that was a blue diamond!

No none are family pieces. Do you ever hold on to something for no reason?? I love the word simplify! I think I have done it some....but obviously....not all!

Hope you enjoy the rest of the Show and Tell's at Kelli's today!

Doctor's visit

Saw my oncologist today and know what the plan is. The tomotherapy really was quite successful. However, some tumors still do exist and they must be addressed. So next Wednesday I will be starting chemotherapy. I would have started today, but they need bloodwork first. I felt encouraged that I have opportunity to try and help this....but, chemo is chemo...and that is rather scary. Right now we are going to try a type that shouldn't take my hair. We will see how effective that is. So, you know what I know!
My son lives and works really close to the doctor's office, so he met us for lunch. That always puts a smile on my face!

Hi Everyone!

It is a beautiful morning here in AZ. We finally had some rain, so it cooled off a bit. So many of you have been asking me questions, I just thought I would take a moment for my regular readers.
1. We taped the flap opening open of the doggie door per Google. This seems to have worked and Bentley uses the door like a pro. We supposedly are to gradually lower the flap for him to get use to the sound and feel.
2. No one knew about my leg marks. I am going to take the picture to my doctor tomorrow and see what he says. I have had the marks off and on for months, so it has nothing to do with the dog. Again, it is not a rash nor a scratch. My guess? Damaged capillaries from the chemo...but we will see.
3. I see my oncologist tomorrow morning. No more living in limbo...I will definately know what treatment will be used. For those who pray for me, please bump it up! I am just dreading going back on chemo.
4. Some of you have noticed I haven't been blogging or visiting as much as usual. Here is the reason. We are trying to get some bigger type cleaning/organizing done before chemo starts. Yesterday I spent the morning washing all those 2 white shirts, 1 red shirt...you know the drill. I want to have as much done so my dear hubby doesn't have to deal with it. So, it isn't like I have fallen off the earth...at least not yet! Plus, it is hot and frankly, I haven't done much tweaking or stuff for like show and tell. I know some of you have said the same thing.
I will definately let you all know what is going on. I hate my blog to be about treatments and stuff, but unfortunately, right now...that is what it is. Thanks for understanding.

Dear Friends and some Questions!!

On Saturday my dear friend Candy had a tea for me and my dearest church girlfriends. Oh my goodness, did we have the best time!

This is my daughter in love...she is not married to my son, but to another wonderful man, but I think of her as my daughter.

I tried so hard to get a good picture of this, but my "dil" made this frame and framed a picture she had taken herself. It is precious.

On the back is the name plate....it is a day gift...or a gift just because!
Now for the questions. First of all, have any of you ever seen anything like this? It is marks on my legs. No bumps, they are not scratches. They come and go, and can be really all over my calf area and foot or just a few. No one I know have ever seen anything like it. It doesn't hurt...but I hate the way it looks!!

The second question is a doggie question. We got a doggie door. And we used treats to get Bentley to go in and out through it. But he is afraid of the flap and unless I hold it, won't come through. Which of course, defeats the purpose. Any suggestions?
Ok, done for today. My shoulder is I would say 85% better....but not totally. Of course, I want it to be totally gone!
Hope you all had a good weekend.

No, I have no cheese with this whine!

and this picture has absolutely nothing to do with anything....

except, I really wish I was in Hawaii!

What a week. It started out so fun with having my grandson, but even while we were with him, I was having some pain in my left shoulder. On Wednesday, I had to go to the other side of town for my ever favorite PET scan. While I held my arms over my head for 30 minutes, the pain was getting worse.
By Wednesday late afternoon there was NO question. I was in PAIN. I tried advil, but it only helped for a short while. So I finally decided, I needed to see a doctor. Well, just try to be a cancer patient and go see an HMO doctor. What a run-around. I finally said, look, just because I have cancer doesn't mean I don't get sick!
They gave me an early morning appt. and I was anxious to get there today. I KNEW I knew what it was...but, I can't prescribe for myself! So after driving 30 miles one way, I found out I was correct, I have Bursitis. Got my prescription and promptly went to the lab, another 15 miles, to have all my blood work done for next Wednesday. I came home and I am staying home! It is 112 degrees and I am cooked! I have a couple of fun things planned for the weekend..so I am looking forward to that.
Anyways, that is all for me today and probably till Saturday. Thanks for all the sweetest comments on my wreath.

Ceekay and one fluffy little dog who watches all of this!!

Friday evening: thank you for all the good wishes and prayers. I am feeling much better. The pain is so much more manageable. More like a dull ache. Few more days and I should be good as....well, as good as!!

One Happy Grandma

We had a first at our home Monday evening. Our grandson spent the night! He is going to soon be seven. Well, he fell asleep in the car home, so not much happened at night...but this morning was a different story. We had to feed Bentley treats!
We had to take a picture of the boys and Gramma! (Don't laugh, you know taking those self portraits is not easy!)

We had to play Who's going to Market???

We compared hand sizes!

We watched Sponge Bob Square Pants (I just don't get that, but whatever!)
Well, I just have to share a couple of cute stories. Non-grandma's can just roll your eyes here!
I said to my grandson...do you want to take a bath in grandma's big tub? (its a garden tub and I thought it would be a treat). He looks at me seriously, takes two sniffs of his arm and says....no, I don't stink! I just cracked up.
Then we wanted to take him to see the new Ice Age movie. We were all ready and he had some water left in his cup. I said...do you want to have a drink of water before we leave? He again, stops in his tracks, looks at me like I am from another planet and says....Gramma, at the big TV place, you get pop! Well, excuse me. I must have been missing out all these years, cuz many times I didn't get no pop! And we stood our ground firmly....as we walked over to the concession stand and got our grandson....his pop, with popcorn, no less!
Now seriously, this is the face we see when we are eating a snack....no, I will tell you right now, he is NOT spoiled. Not one little bit. You believe me, don't you?

Metamorphis Monday

It is Metamorphis Monday at Susan's, so I thought I would show what I created over the weekend. I know many of you have seen Cindy's beautiful shell wreaths. I thought I would give it a try. Let me tell you right now, Cindy must be an expert, because these are more time consuming than you think. And watch out fingies....I am still babying a blister!
I found white wreaths at the Dollar Tree. They are about 10 inches. It took, and I am guessing here, about 2 bags of shells. Don't get too many big shells. They don't fit the curve of the wreath correctly. Smaller, about the size of a quarter to half dollar work better, in my opinion.

I started on the inside and worked my way around to the outside, filling in as needed.

I am so pleased with how it turned out. I need to find some ribbon to hang it...but until then I added it to my beachy display on my LR coffee table.

and I know, but seriously, I can't help putting this picture in.
This little guy, well, he has just stolen my heart.

I Met Marty39!

Marty and I were able to meet for lunch on Thursday. What a fun day....we had lunch at Paradise Bakery, talked, ate a chocolate chip cookie, talked....exchanged gifts, talked

This is the precious teacup that Marty gifted to me...it is so precious and I love the border design!
After lunch we ran to 2 Goodwill stores. I found a couple things I didn't buy....proof that I do walk away occasionally!

See.....I was so tempted...but I have some chicken dishes, so I said step away from the 99 cent dishes. I am not quite over it....but time heals the wounds.

If you get a chance to meet a fellow blogger, do it!! I can't wait till my next meeting.

Chicken Tablescape Thursday

I have seen so many lovely chicken/rooster tablescapes...I just had to try my hand at one. I don't have as many lovely chickens, but it is a nice table for my hubby and I to have a simple breakfast I used some gold napkins as a runner on a black tablecloth.
This plates were from our area grocery store.

These bowls are perfect for cereal...rooster on one side,

sunflower on the other.

I have had these gold colored goblets for years...don't know where they came from...maybe Big Lots.

Little salt and pepper shakers from Ross.

Cute little egg cups from an Estate sale.

This I know I got at Big Lots!

The napkins are really towels from Cracker Barrel. On sale yesterday! They are perfect!

Well, I am off to visit all the other pretty tablescapes at Susan's. See you there!
