Here Comes the Bride - Show and Tell

February is just around the corner and LOVE is in the air! I thought for Show and Tell at Kelli's I would show my bride doll from when I was a little girl. The dress is not original. For my 30th birthday, my husband found a lady that made doll clothes and I had this dress designed and made for her. That was almost 25 years ago now, and I probably should do it again...but I won't. She is a precious memory just the way she is.

She had a manicure for the special day...yep, she came that way. See the little buttons on her sleeve?

Her bridal bouquet.

She still has her original "pearl" earrings.

Lacy pantiloons, of course!

Original shoes. Now believe you me, I am surprised at the fact I still have them.

Side portrait. (I love this shot!)

She is checking herself out in the mirror. (Shelia - she is almost a Bathroom Diva!)

I always wanted to be a bride. I used to wear my mother's wedding dress for dress up. Unfortunately, that is long gone. But I did grow up and become a bride, one of the most wonderful days of my life.

Would you pray?

2009 - so far an interesting year. If there is an allotment of tears per year - I have put a dent in it.
My husband and I have a young couple as friends that we are pretty close to. They are the same age as our own kids. She just had a baby 4 months ago and we were thrilled for them. Yesterday she called us to come over. She is 25 years old and just been diagnosed with Hodgins Lymphoma. It has already spread. She will be starting major chemotherapy in the next week or so. Ladies, this is not good. She won't be able to work during treatments. She wants to raise her baby and her poor husband is devastated. Please pray for them.
Please, while you are at it, you can add a bit for me. I have my PET scan Thursday and get results next Wednesday. I am resting as best I know how on the Lord, but I am still nervous about it.
Thank you so much. I know there are real prayer warriors out in Blogland. Thank you too for all your wonderful comments. I look forward to them each day. First thing I do when I get up is check my blog!!
Thanks for listening.

Tablescape Tuesday - Dinner for 2

It is my favorite time of the week. Tablescape Tuesday hosted by Susan. This week I set a Table for Two. This is real life - dinner for hubby and me! I should have a brillant title - however, I don't!
I found the luncheon/salad plate, cup and saucer at Homegoods after Christmas. You know I loved that black and white! I thought it looked so pretty with the golden color goblets and placemats/chargers.
I placed the salad plate on top of my good ole plain white gold rimmed dishes.

I always love when the cup has a flower inside!

This gold fishbowl type holder I purchased for $2.00 at my grocery store after Christmas. The square votives I think I bought at Walmart last year.

I just love these goblets. I know I picked them up at some store like Big Lot or 99 cent store a couple of years ago.

I thought I would use some of my salts. These were purchased probably 15 years ago at a garage sale!
The little creamers my husband bought me in South Carolina at a dish depot.

These placemat/chargers with the dingle, dangles...oooh, I love these. After Christmas at Target for about $4.00 each. They are all beaded and I know you know they run a lot more than that regularly.

The little silver spoons were from the Outdoor shopping in Charleston. I purchased 4 different ones.

So you can see the size. Just a note, if you are wanting to purchase salt spoons, beware of the size description. Salt spoons are no more than 2 1/2 inches...Many people try to sell mustard spoons, or even collector spoons as salt spoons, .....they aren't.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my tablescape. I am off to see all of yours! Next week Valentine's tablescape.

Final Snow Show and Tell

***Ladies..I am sorry if I haven't visited you yet. Blogger was having some issues this morning and I could not go anywhere - I will try to get caught up***
Finally putting away the last of the snowmen and starting to decorate for Valentine's Day! For Show and Tell at Kelli's I wanted to show my Fenton snowman candy dish. I only have 2 pieces of Fenton, but this is a favorite piece of mine. I love the deep cobalt blue with the white cute snowmen.

So, away with the SNOW - which of course, we never had to begin with and on to Hearts!!! Another favorite holiday of mine.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I am off to visit the other Show and Tell's!

A Hard Decision but

through many tears I had to make it. As most of you know I have been ill for over 2 years. I like as much as possible to not dwell on that fact. Right now, I am feeling fairly well, praise God. My sweet husband knew I missed having a dog and we brought Lacee home. But, as much as I wanted to believe I was strong enough, I found that I still do not have the stamina to keep up with a brand new puppy. My husband is gone for 12 hour shifts and then sleeps to get ready to go back to work. His first shift back brought swiftly the realization that I cannot run after a puppy. I so wanted to. I thought I could. But to be fair to her, I must face the fact that I am not as strong as I once was, nor do I have the stamina I need. Anyone that has a new puppy, and I have before, knows the effort it takes. The family we purchased her from was more than understanding and said they know they have another buyer for her, so she will get a good home. I deleted the previous post, because it is a little painful to me right now. I thank you for all your well wishes regarding Lacee. Believe you me, she was loved and got lots of kisses for the 3 days she was with us.

Old Cards Show and Tell

I have some of the cards my father sent to my mother when they were married. I got out the old scrapbook and there were 3 different ones for Valentine's day. I believe I am going to frame these this year and enjoy them in February. Cards were very different in the 40's and 50's.

I love the old pictures and ribbons on the cards.

This was probably considered expensive then!!! Add a 0 and now you can get a "decent" card.

I loved some of the wording inside....pretty doggone nice....simply mad about him....don't hear that terminology much in a card anymore.

My mom's handwriting...isn't that sweet!!
Well then I was in for a shock. I was looking at my baby book to see if I could find out who made the baby blanket I showed a few posts back. There were several old cards in there of mine...early birthdays... As I was looking this little card was there and I had seen it many times. To my surprise something fell out of the bottom of it. Now ladies....I have moved several times...looked at things in this book before, shoved it back in the closet, and NEVER did I see this....but there it was.....My baby ring. I was on the phone with my cousin and I started crying. I could not believe it. I knew there had been a ring...but my mom thought she lost it. It must have been stuck inside the card all those years. As you can see the old tape has damaged the card...but look....there is my ring.
I will be framing that also.
Please stop by Kelli's to see what other lovelys are being shown today!!

SnowFLAKE Tablescape Tuesday!

Here we are at wonderful Tuesday Tablescape at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch. My table today is snowflakes! This will be my tablescape until February! I love the blue, white and silver theme in the cold days of January...well, most of the country.
The napkin rings and square chargers are from Target 3 Christmases ago - after Christmas sale...My everyday Reed and Barton silverware from QVC!

I just found this glitter welcome sign at JoAnn's at 90% off. It was less than 50 cents!

The napkins have these sweet snowmen all over the fabric.

I laid the globlet down so you could see the snowflakes. Dollar tree last year.

Snowflake dish from Dollar Tree last year also.

I have four of these blue snowmen on sleds. They were Dollar Tree also.

Each one of the four are different.

This silver Mercury glass votive holder I bought today at JoAnn's 90 % off. 59 cents...I love it!!! The snowflake candle holder I place on top of a silver candlestick. My son bought this for me about 10 years ago.

My goblets on sitting on mirror coasters. After Christmas this year at Target.

The snowflake candles are after Christmas sales last year and this.

Well, I am off to see all the pretty tables. Even my husband said...did you post your tablescape yet! You do all know this is a disease don't you? We won't even mention the cute stuff I found for Valentine's day....no, you will have to wait!!
