Amazing

Right now my husband and I are marveling at this sight!

Husband saw this and said get you camera!

Now seriously...is this sweet or what? Do they want in the birdcage? I think these may be babies that I saw the mom nesting by our front door. I don't want to disturb them, so I will check later.

I don't know about you.....but it just makes me think of how amazing God is!

Two of my favorite things...only 9998 to go!

For this week's favorite things Saturday at Laurie's, I wanted to show my mother's day pins.

The rhinestone MOM I have had since my first mother's day in 1982. My husband took our baby boy to Meijer Thrifty Acres in Detroit and bought it for me. I wear it every mother's day.

Last year for mother's day my daughter gave me the Grandma pin. So now, I wear that every year as well.


I always wear both of them on my blouse to church on Mother's day and it always is a hit....I don't know if I have ever seen another MOM like it....

I have jewelry made of diamonds and pearls and some are precious gifts from my husband....but these pins are two of the most precious of my pieces to me. Because, they say who I really am!

Mother's day gifts 2010 & Blue Monday

I have a secret...well, probably a lot of you know it already, but I LOVE presents. I love to give presents and I LOVE to receive presents. I know....that might shock some of you, but just being honest here. And
I love holidays. Christmas is my absolute fav, followed by Valentine's day...and then mother's day!
Our pastor spoke on Hannah Sunday and so many years I felt like Hannah. My hubs and I wanted children so badly and had four times precious children born to us, but they did not live long. Finally, I became a mother here on earth about 2 weeks before mother's day. I was thrilled....beyond the moon. Then a couple years later, our daughter made our little family complete. So, that is one of the reasons I love mother's day soooo much! I also want to mention that I enjoyed this Sunday's message also because it was the passage of scripture we used on our son's birth announcements!! Ok, getting off on a tangent here....

What was I talking about?? oh yes...PRESENTS
from Hubby....a tanzanite buckle ring....I have always loved this style. And yes, for those of you thinking....did he pick that out without her?? he did! I was totally surprised.
and also this precious necklace.,...it is so pretty. It is like hammered silver with the rose and then the tiny pearls on the chain...and for any of you over 50, who will totally understand this...the greatest latch in the world. I can totally put it on myself!!

My family all went to Abuelo's for lunch and my daughter and I got to have anything we wanted plus dessert! Then handsome son had that puppy dog look, like I can't have one??? so, of course, dad gave in and we all enjoyed Dulce de leche cheesecake...yum.....

My daughter gave me this beautiful pitcher with the ivy. I thought it might have been one she found and planted herself because I think it has an antique quality, but she said she found it like that and KNEW I would love it! And I do!!

My sweetest grandbabies made me this stepping stone. I think it was fashioned after a My Little Pony! I think it is sooooo sweet. I am going to give it some shellac before it goes on the patio. Little hands making gifts for grandma...I just cherish it! Oh, how I love my grandchildren. I am such a grandma too.....they really can not do much wrong in my eyes!! Now, don't correct me...cuz I rather not hear it!!!!

I have one more gift coming. I get to find a picture frame for my Bentley boy. I have been looking, but haven't found just what I want yet....he is mama's boy for sure....

I hope you all had a wonderful mother's day! And to those who had a difficult day because you no longer have your mom or child....I thought of you. I know. And those who want to be a mom, but aren't yet...I know. And those who have children, but you don't hear from them...I know. And I care.

If you are still with me...thank you....I am finally getting over this bug and I am full of talk that has been building up!!! Just imagine what my poor hubby has been going through!

Special Women in my Life

As mother's day is approaching, I can't help but think about the women that are and have been so important in my life. They helped to mold me into the woman I am today and encourage me to be the woman the Lord is still molding me to be.

My mother Alice was for most of my life a single mom. My dad died when I was 9 and she raised me on her own. My mother due to physical difficulties never worked outside the home, so we struggled.....but I never wanted for anything I really needed. My mom was a fantastic cook, baker, and homemaker. She loved her parents and siblings immensely. I was 29 when my mom went home to be with the Lord. She was thrilled that she got to see her first grandchild.


My Grandma, my mom's mom....was from the old country. She was all about the home and cooking and cleaning. I can remember her braiding my hair and making hats from the newspaper. And I remember her crying with me as I was losing my second baby. I adored her.

My Aunt Barbara is like my second mom. She was so different from my mom in that she worked outside the home and was very active at church and outside activities. She can make a game out of a stick...seriously. The best advice in my life came from my Aunt Barb. She is elderly now, and slowing down, but she still has her opinions on life.

My Aunt Ida is my mom's oldest sister. She is quiet but loyal. I can still remember her coming over and playing table games with us. She is still living at 91 years old and a faithful example of a Godly woman.

My Aunt Doris is with the Lord now. She passed suddenly and at a fairly young age. She was always giving me responsibilites....and I appreciated that so much. She taught me how to outwardly show love to my husband...and she was fun. She used to hide Banana twinkies in the freezer when I babysat for her! I still miss her.

My Aunt Esther was the creative one in the family. I LOVED spending time with her. We would gather around the piano and sing, sing, sing. She always had a craft going and still does. I still remember our yearly luncheons at Christmas when table decorations were not so available...they were wonderful! Her daughter Connie and I were more like sisters than cousins.

My Aunt Nancy....oh my goodness! I smile just thinking about her. She was the fancy one in the family. Back then, she had to make fancy from burlap, but she could do it. She has a laugh that would just light up a room.

I hope you are still with me, but I want to pay tribute to a few more women in my life.

My dear friend Rose. She has been my friend for 35 years. Oh, we have so many precious memories....during the good and the bad. We decorate our homes long distance! She is a faithful friend.

My friend Kathy. No one can make me laugh like Kathy. I can call her at 4 in the morning when I am sick and she will comfort me. We can be totally honest with each other and still love each other!

My friend Candy. We haven't been friends for a real long time, but she has been faithful to me through my cancer ordeal. We can go out and pretend there is no cancer...or, she can listen to me cry if I need to. I feel blessed to have a friend in my state to do girlfriend things with!

And there is my blogging friends. You know who you are. Those that have reached out to me even beyond the written page. You have added dimension and hope to my life when I desperately need it.

So I am so blessed. I waited a very long time to enjoy mother's day. There were days I thought it would never happen for me. But it did! And I really love celebrating that day with my children and grandchildren. I only pray that I will be an example to other women as the women in my life have been to me. I ask the Lord daily to make me be the woman He wants me to be

Flowers

This has been one of the most beautiful springs I can remember since I moved to AZ.
The weather has been cool....and we had so much early rain. I just love flowers so I thought today I would show some flowers I see at my home.

The tulips were at my grocery store. I had to have them with this peach and yellow color scheme. They are just beautiful...and what can say spring more than tulips!

Some of the views outside in my yard. I LOVE petunias. And they do so well here in AZ. I really would like to get some more pots this year and plant even more petunias. And of course, the little daisy like flower. Reminds me of my wedding! The trees are all in bloom....it is so pretty. This year my tree isn't as full as we had to trim it, but it will be better next year.

I just had to say that I was so amused by the comments of the dog fan. It is either ooooh how cute, or why would you want that! That is what makes the world go round. Our differences in what we like!

Edit: Bloggerettes...it is a fan....a doggie fan. At cracker barrel. I think it is so cute...but it was pricey...ok, so if you don't think the dog is cute...maybe you would prefer a rooster!! they have that too!!

Happy Wednesday

Here we are at Wednesday again! My husband's days off are Monday and Tuesday, so Wednesday is not a favorite day of mine. After almost 37 years of marriage, I still hate when he is away from me, although thankful he has a job!

My dear friend Misty and her grandma and mom have a family treat. They give day gifts for each other. Just a little gift for nothing. Isn't that wonderful? So, I told Misty I was going to let her adopt me and let me in on the fun!
Sunday she met me at church and gave me this precious, and I do mean precious to me...day gift.
She made a collage of our day we spent touring the homes in Windsor Square. She included where we ate lunch, the addresses of the homes, and my tree I fell in love with.


Then to top it off, her mom Debbie (who I made the acrylic book) made me this adorable pillow. You all know my love of pillows.

A few weeks ago my friend Melody gave me this pillow in Teal....to take to my chemo. She has one of those amazing embroidery machines and put the words in the shape of a butterfly!
