Thankful Thursday

***I am adding a question to bloggers. Does anyone know what is going on with the Blog Roll? For 3 days it has been off and on. Thanks for any advice!
Rhoda at Southern Hospitality is hosting Thankful Thursday. Today she asks that we post our favorite garage/flea/yard sale find. Now anyone who reads me regularly knows I really have a hard time finding a favorite. My hubby says I have 25,000 personal friends in all "my stuff". But I am going to narrow it down. I really had much more garage sale items before we moved two years ago, but my husband was really ready for a change of style...so I had to get rid of a few items. Some though are just not up for discussion!
The first item is my old school desk. We must have bought this close to 30 years ago. I have never refinished it because it has the students carvings in the wood!
Next one is my huge crock...it goes in the other backseat seatbelt along with my butter churn I posted before. I had someone offer me quite a bit of money for this...hubby was stroking out...but no, I wanted to keep it!
This chair is really a favorite. I went to an estate sale and it was really picked over. I went down to the dingy basement and there in the corner by the hot water tank was this chair. I asked the people in charge how much? $10.00. My hands were shaking I could hardly get the money out. Now my dear husband has wanted to throw this out several times. We can't sit on it. It really is too delicate with the thrush seat and little legs...so man brain says, "what good is it?" Well, as you can see, it is still here! I always put something on it so no one sits on it and takes the chance of breaking it.
I KNOW you all understand, don't you?

Yeah, I GET you!!! ;-)
I LOVE that sweet arrangement under the cloche on your school desk--are they YOUR family heirlooms, or someone else's?

lol, yes, I do! :)

I bought a crock years ago to put flowers in...left it out all winter and yep, it was all cracked in the Spring. I had no idea it would do that, I was young.

Nice little treasures you have there :)

I love that chair! Tell your hubby to chill. We don't care if it's functional, it works where we need it and that's all we care about. Right? HA!

I certainly understand. And how nice you have the desk. These desks go way back. That's the kind I sat on in the 40s.

Hi Ceekay,

My mother-in-law, a retired school teacher, would love that desk. She recently gave us an old school desk chair. She said not to ever think of selling it or she would disown us.lol

Hi Ceekay! I'm with you. I don't know what's going on. When I pull up my blog and go to my Sweeties
List and click on the name of a blog - all that comes up is words! I was hoping I didn't mess something up!

I love your little school desk. I had one like that as a little girl and don't know what happened to it. Sure wish I had it now!

Woo Hoo!! You're gonna have joy joy joy joy down in your heart to stay!! You'll gonna love Home Goods!
Be a sweetie,

grrrr we're having a big storm here tonight and it keeps knocking out our internet...so if this posts twice forgive me! I commented on how much I like the seat on that chair...and how cool the old school desk is! Thanks for letting us peek at your great stuff.

Very cute things :)

I have an idea.... start going through his things in the garage and pretend like you are getting rid of stuff and when he freaks out, ask "what do you need this for? You never use it." I'll bet he stops telling you what to throw out LOL

Your crock and chair are just wonderful! I have a couple of chairs that are family keepsakes--off limits to anyone wanting to actually USE them---they are old and fragile and I also keep something on them to keep them safe! Great thrifty finds!!!

Well, all I can say is - it's a good thing there's a woman brain too!

Oh my goodness! That chair is exactly like the desk chair at my Aunt Georgia's house. I remember it well as the desk and chair were in the corner of the living room and that chair at least could be used [altho' NOT by children]..someone might get up on their knees and ruin it.
Love your blog, will add it my favorites so I can find it to go through when I have more time.
