I'm in a Singing Mood

I think a while back I mentioned that I am a soloist. Many a song I have sung in churches over the years. I remember as a young girl, gathering around my grandpa or aunt's piano, and singing the old hymns. My grandpa didn't stand for no simple whispering singing. You were supposed to sing like you meant it! Well, the Lord gave me lungs and I can belt out a song. This week many songs have calmed my spirit. Sometimes when I can't sleep, I start with A - Amazing Grace and sing through the alphabet...B - Blessed Assurance...C - Count your Many Blessings and so on.... so, today I am sharing the words to two songs I love. In my heart and in my home, I am singing them...

My Hope Is in the Lord

My hope is in the Lord Who gave Himself for me
And paid the price of all my sin at Calvary.

Refrain:For me He died, For me He lives,
And everlasting life and light He freely gives.

No merit of my own His anger to suppress
My only hope is found in Jesus' righteousness.

And now for me He stands Before the Father's throne.
He shows His wounded hands and names me as His own.

His grace has planned it all, 'Tis mine but to believe,
And recognize His work of love and Christ receive.

Refrain:For me He died, For me He lives,
And everlasting life and light He freely gives.

UNTIL THEN

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a path that's winding always upward
This troubled world is not my final home

But until then my heart will go on singing
Until then with joy I'll carry on
Until the day my eyes behold that city
Until the day God calls me home

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for a while
And things of earth that cause this heart to tremble
Remembered there will only bring a smile

But until then my heart will go on singing...
Until then, with joy I'll carry on
Until that day, my eyes behold my Savior
Until that day, God calls me Home.

Thank you for all the prayers. They help tremendously. Yes, I am scared. I am disappointed. But, I am hanging on to my Jesus. This is not bravery. I am not trying to be strong. This is ALL I Know.

I am going to church today and singing my little heart out! See you on Tuesday.

Tablescape Thursday - Black and Gold

Today is happy day because it is Tablescape Thursday at Susan's. Plates, napkins, tablecloth, napkin rings and candlesticks all purchased after Christmas at Target. Salts were a gift. Mirror centerpiece was from Big Lots years ago. Candles are battery. Glasses, I can't remember, sorry. The white plates have a leaf and bird design...hence the birds and leaf accessories.

I hope you all like it...it is more beautiful in person I think...so all of you come on over and see it!

Update on my Doctor's appointment....

Because I have a yummy tablescape for Thursday, I wanted to post this separately. I saw my oncologist today. I wish I could say the news was good. It appears I will be having more surgery. The disease has attacked a couple of organs, nothing horrible, but one spot in particular is of concern. I still have to see 2 more doctors to confirm, but I believe it will be surgery. However, my doctor was very positive and felt that I should have "significant remission" if all went well. Again one of those times I could have laughed if it wasn't so shocking. Oh, by the way, other than cancer, I am very healthy!! Ok, I am chuckling right now....kind of reminds me of an old joke I heard long ago. And no, I am not taking anything. I really actually hate sharing all of this because I really would rather have a happy upbeat blog, but I do share because I know that many of you pray for me...and I want to keep you up to date. As I find out more, I will let you know. Until then I am finishing my tablescape...ooooh, I think it is a fav of mine!! See you then.

More Cali pictures

It has been fairly quiet at my home since we returned from California. My aunt is being moved to a rehab facility today. She is doing good considering, but it is going to take a while before she is back home.
I thought I would just post a few more pics from our trip... The snow on the mountains. It was gorgeous. Pictures don't even begin to do it justice, believe me I tried. But I thought this was a good one.

Anyone who has been through the trip from AZ to CALI knows about the energy windmills. We just look for them...There are hundreds of them!

Do you guys try to do the self portraits. You know my kids can get great pics of themselves and even group shots. I should make an album of my mistries. Hey, like a mistreatment Nester!...anyways...I thought this one was pretty good of me in the car....with my Brighton sunglasses.

More windmill thingys...

Remember me telling you it was cold. I had a t-shirt, a hoodie shirt and a denim jacket. The wind was a whipping and I threw up the hoodie...AND MESSED my hair..but I didn't care. My hubs thought that was hilarious. He said they should sell blankets by the show site. They would make a fortune. But the show - Fantasmic was fantastic! It was way worth waiting for.
Have a wonderful week friends. It's a Blog world afterall, it's a blog world....oh, sorry........

I'm Back!

We had a wonderful time in California and Disneyland. We were at the park before it opened and stayed until it closed. The last 2 hours were spent sitting in our spot waiting for the show. We did quite a bit, but no where near seeing everything! We were mostly freezing! Thankfully I had layered and it did warm a bit in the early afternoon, but by evening....brrrrr.

I wish my mailbox was this cute!

We had lunch at this cafe in New Orleans and the food was beyond fantastic! They brought me this little "fritter" like Mickey's head for my cake. My husband also later bought me a Mickey ice cream bar...I ate the ears!

Here I am with my man. You would not believe the lines. On a Wednesday! But nothing doing, I was seeing Mickey!

We had a wonderful time staying with Ro's daughter. Ro's granddaughters are precious and of course, I had the puppy as much as possible! But, we had to say goodbye....till next time!
I thought I would have lots of pictures of my purchases.....nope, I bought almost nothing. I was looking for a bling t-shirt with Mickey, a silver Mickey head necklace, and maybe some plates. Nothing! I know, but I even spoke with a purchasing manager. The better jewelry isn't selling right now, so they are not getting much in. What they did have was about $300.00. I got a charm for my Italian charm bracelet and some disney dollars. That is it!
(I will tell you about my stopping at the Brighton outlet another day....there, I didn't come out empty handed!!!)
We are definately hoping to get back in October for my hub's birthday and go to California adventure. But of course, that will depend on my treatments. I can't imagine going if I am not doing well, it was tiring enough this time!
I see the doctor on Tuesday. Whoopee!! (sorry, a little sarcasm there). Till then...I am resting. My legs are pooped!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I am getting so excited! We will be gone this week to Disneyland. For my birthday! Yep, I love birthdays. Always have. Now, I also really love getting old. Yes, you heard me. I WANT to get old!

But not this week. This week I am going to pretend I am young. Who do I want to see? Snow White, Cinderella, Beauty, and of course....M I C K E Y!

So, I won't be posting until I get back. Probably Friday...I should have LOTS to show for Show and Tell. By then, I should have It's a Small World, out of my head.

Thank you for all the prayers. My aunt had her surgery yesterday and all went well. She has a long road ahead of her.

Excuse me now, I am off to see Disneyland!

No title, just tears.

I have another post, all happy and ready...but I received some sad news today. Many of you remember I went to visit my elderly aunt in October in Michigan. I knew she had slowed down quite a bit since my uncle's passing last January...and I was not surprised, but she fell again and broke her other hip, quite badly. She is 82 and not in good health and honestly, this is quite serious. Because of my health change, I cannot go there. Her name is Barbara if you feel like praying for her.
As soon as I finished with several calls for her, my young friend with the new cancer diagnosis called. She has started chemo and is quite miserable. Poor thing wanted to commiserate, but I don't think I was much help today. Her name is Katie. She is suffering from nausea.
Thankfully, I did have a wonderful time of worship and refreshment earlier at church before all this happened.
The older I get, the easier the tears fall. Thank you for caring. Hopefully, I will get to do my happy post tomorrow before I leave for CA!

It's Valentine's Day!

I was a young girl of 18 on her first day at college. Someone told me that I might be able to purchase some used text books at the bookstore. This guy, big, tall, and handsome said sure, he had some he wanted to sell. Great. Would he carry them to my car for me? I heard myself say! I didn't even really know his name but I went home and told my cousin, "I met the man I am going to marry."

It took a few weeks. I didn't think he really noticed me. He even asked a friend of mine out on a date first. (I have since forgiven him!) But finally, a note and a little cherry tart in my school mailbox...would I go out with him? Of course I would, but he still had to ask me in person.

We went to a restaurant, he ordered my meal. I thought he was so romantic...really he was so broke! We talked and...well 36 almost years later...we are still talking! One of the three best days of my life!

My husband is sooo good to me! Flowers, candy, chocolate and strawberries, and what I always look for....a card!

Multi colored roses

Yummy strawberries...let me tell you - these are GOOD!

Have a wonderful memory making Valentines Day!

Hug the ones you love!

Valentines Day Show and Tell

Since tomorrow is LOVE day, I thought I would finish showing some of my decorations around our home for Show and Tell at Kelli's. This little figurine is under a cloche. I just love the little boy kneeling...

This is on the coffee table in our living room, so my husband can see it every time he walks in the front door...it is so true, I love him SO...

Our bathroom, just a little bit of love!

and some hugs and kisses.

This is a little cloche I got at Ross last week. It is on a tall pedestal. I had to put in my kissing bears with a glittered heart!

I have always loved this brooch. My husband gave it to me years ago. I have never worn it. I just love, love the way it looks just like a box of long stem roses...which he has given me MANY times.

A friend (Ro - it was from Faith) bought this for me years ago. It is a little tin. I have always had it in our bedroom. So sweet.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine's Day. It is my favorite holiday next to Christmas. I hope all my blogging friends know that I appreciate them and are thankful for our Internet friendships. Happy LOVE day!
