Vacation Memories Show and Tell

This week at No Place Like Home, Kelli has asked for Show and Tell to show some of our vacation purchases. My hubby and I are not too much for typical souvenirs. But I do like to pick up things that I can decorate with that when I see them, I remember our wonderful trips. Here are just a few of the items I see every day....

This mini sweetgrass basket purchased at Boone Plantation in Charleston. This is about the size of a Tennis Ball maybe...it's all I could afford! By the way, I just found my macro setting on my camera and am I a happy girl!
We also like to pick up prints from the areas we visit. This is a pen and ink of one of the beautiful gates in Charleston. We just loved Charleston!

We went to Savannah and had lunch at Lady and Sons restaurant. That was such a highlight of our trip. This is a print of the restaurant.

My little salsa bowl we just recently purchased in Ixtapa, Mexico.
And my precious sea life carved animals. The Sea Lion from San Diego Seaport Village. We saw them swimming in the ocean and my even more precious turtle from truly paradise next to Heaven - Hawaii.

Of course, there are many more "things" collected after 35 years of marriage and trips, but those will be another time! Hope you enjoyed seeing these. Always remember to take those vacations...no matter big or small. We learned that lesson the hard way, putting it off for retirement. But maybe...just maybe, we shouldn't wait. I know we sure are not. In fact...I feel a weekend get-away just around the corner!!

You have some neat mementos there! We usually always pick up prints or something to remember where we visit too. We are going to Charleston again soon! I love it there, and Savannah too!

Lovely souvenirs! I've often thought it would be fun to visit the lady and son, but have never traveled to that part of the US! You're so right about taking the time for those little getaways. They can be so renewing!

I especially like the carved sea animals. Are they wood or stone? Either way, they are beautiful.

Thanks for sharing.

What a sweet collection of souvenirs!! That basket is so unique!! And I love the sea life from California! Great stuff here.

My Show n Tell is bone china cardinals this week. And especially a favorite...a cardinal music box.

The show n tell is following a set of photos of a tornado that ripped through where my nephew lives!!! I had to post those first since it's family!! So, scroll down.

Happy weekend, and for the Americans, have a safe holiday!

Ceekay, As soon as I saw the sweetgrass basket, I knew the destination was Charleston, SC! LOL! I spent my honeymoon in Charleston and Savannah! I love them both! My brother was in Charleston for about 3 years, while he was at Johnson Wales, and I was more disappointed than anyone, when he graduated and came home...I didn't have a good reason to go that way as much! I've never eaten at the Lady & Sons! That's on my list to do! LOL!

Great Post! Hope you have a good holiday weekend! ~Rhonda

The salsa bowl is perfect! I absolutely love it! My Morning Room is decorated with a Tex-Mex feel to it and that would look great in there!

Glad to meet another "Charleston Lover". We go there about every 2 or 3 years to get my "fix" of old homes and beautiful gardens. Boone Plantation is one of my favorite.

Great momentos!

Love your momentos. I didn't even realize that Kelli had suggested vacation purchases, but that's what I featured this time - the things I bought in Hawaii last week and the first of this week. I'm way behind in visiting other blogs since I've been away. I'm tryin' to get caught up.
Aloha!

Your comment on my blog reminded me of the first time we went to Hawaii. We bought matching shirts at Hilo Hatties too. I'll post a picture in the next few days. This time we looked at Hilo Hatties but didn't buy anything there.
Aloha!
