Here Comes the Bride - Show and Tell

February is just around the corner and LOVE is in the air! I thought for Show and Tell at Kelli's I would show my bride doll from when I was a little girl. The dress is not original. For my 30th birthday, my husband found a lady that made doll clothes and I had this dress designed and made for her. That was almost 25 years ago now, and I probably should do it again...but I won't. She is a precious memory just the way she is.

She had a manicure for the special day...yep, she came that way. See the little buttons on her sleeve?

Her bridal bouquet.

She still has her original "pearl" earrings.

Lacy pantiloons, of course!

Original shoes. Now believe you me, I am surprised at the fact I still have them.

Side portrait. (I love this shot!)

She is checking herself out in the mirror. (Shelia - she is almost a Bathroom Diva!)

I always wanted to be a bride. I used to wear my mother's wedding dress for dress up. Unfortunately, that is long gone. But I did grow up and become a bride, one of the most wonderful days of my life.

Oh! She is so sweet! I just love your husband had the dress made for her. Those painted nails! I think you need to keep this dress on her. What a wonderful treasure.

What a beautiful Bride doll. Whoever did the dress did a great job. I would leave her just the way she is, beautiful.

Your doll is very sweet! When I was little I use to wear my mother's dress all the time and pretend like you did. Only when I did become a bride we took the dress out of the garbage bag that she stored it in and had it restored back to its beauty and I walked down the aisle in it. I'm happy to say it's in a proper box now all preserved like it should be! What lovely memories...thanks for sharing!

What a sweet treasure to have.

My post today has a bride too - only it's me!

Is she a Madame Alexander doll? Her face has the sweet look of those dolls. I have an Amy (Little Women) MA doll I would love to have restored.

I can't believe you have the shoes! Those are usually the first thing to be lost.

I had a doll very much like her. I think it was a sort of fad at the time. You don't see any Bride dolls these days. I wanted one so badly and she was my gift that year from Santa. Unfortunately, I don't still have her.
I love the outfit that was made for yours. She is a real treasure.

I LOVE your bride doll!!! I have one also from when I was a kid and she still has her original dress - which is a mess! I bought a collector's bride doll many years ago and have them both tucked away. I am now going to take them out and enjoy them. I loved seeing the many beautiful pictures you shared of your beautiful doll!

She is so beautiful! Love that dress, and your husband sure knows how to select great gifts!

I always wanted a bride doll as a child, but never had one, although I did get a beautiful doll each year for Christmas. Several years ago I found a pretty bride doll at Ross (or somewhere like that) for $15 and I bought her! She's in my doll curio now.

I sure enjoyed seeing yours, what is her name?

I could be wrong, but I think I have this same bride doll. Mine has a tiny 'diamond' ring. Did yours come with one of those? The bouquet is the same, as are the earrings. I'll have to dig her out and compare her to your post. Whoa! Mine is about 45 (or so) years old.

You are always welcome in The Shadow of the Cross. Feel free to stop in anytime.

She is beautiful! I just love her and think she's perfect. I had a bride doll as a little girl as well. It was given to me when I was five and a flower girl in a wedding. She was so precious to me, but my mother kept her in a 'safe place' and I didn't get to play with her, as I recall. When I was about seven, my mother convinced me that I needed to give her away to a 'poor little girl' (unknown --- to a general agency or some place) and I felt like I should at my mother's suggestion. Although it was probably the right thing to do, I've always felt very sad about the loss. It left an empty place in my heart that has never gone away. Sometimes I feel selfish about it and other times I feel --- well, like maybe my mother should have asked me to give a different doll away.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane --- I love your doll!

Dear CeeKay,
I'm sending my prayers your way for good test results. Also, they are going to that young family you mentioned. There indeed is power in numbers and prayers--it is some wise of you to tell us in blogland.

On a lighter note, I love your bride doll--she is lovely and it's wonderful that you still have her. That was so sweet of your hubby to have that dress made for her.

Have a restful weekend. Dana

Ceekay, I'm so glad you told me about your bride doll! She is very VERY much like mine, except mine is a brunette! I have a girlfriend that is an excellent seamstress so I may have her whip me up a new gown as the original one is now stained and a bit plain. Yours is so beautiful! Funny that we both had the faux fireplace! I see where I'm going to have to stalk you past posts when I have a bit more time!! Hope you are having a great week ~ we have rain with a possibility of ice ~ ugh!

Big TX Hugs,
Stephanie
