Cold Weather = Chili!

Ok, so if you are from Texas....just go on to the next blog cuz I don't make chili like y'all do!

I do not claim to have the best chili recipe.  But it is like my mom made it and I love it.  It really is more soupy.

Here's what I do....

1 large onion diced and cooked
1-11/2 lb ground beef browned

2 cans Hunts tomato sauce
1 can light kidney beans
1can dark kidney beans
salt, pepper, a touch of sugar, and worchesire sauce
Chili powder - I use about 2 TBS for this amount.  My hubs will add more and hot sauce later.

Put in Stock Pot on low for 2 hours or until your husband can't stand it anymore and gets a bowl full!!

This sounds very good! I made a chili recipe from the Food Network that had a zillion ingredients and took forever to make. Never again. I'll try this! :)

Jane

Sounds simple and good. We make chili that is an old Terlingua Chili Cook-off winner. It has a can of beer in it and it really makes it tasty.

sounds yummy, Chili is my plan for tomorrow. I've just used Williams Chili Seasoning canned kidney beans, and 2/3 of a can of Tomato Juice...cause that's the way my momma made it too. my store just started carrying the packets without salt. Yay, now my hubby can have it. Gotta have crumbled up saltines in it too.

That's very similar to the way my mother made it, too; except we use pinto beans instead of kidney beans. Wish I had some cooking on the stove right now - it is COLD outside! Sally

We had chili this week also. I am planning on a pot of potato soup this next week. I love soups when it's cold out. Just like having something in the fridge to warm up if anyone is hungry. Love the photo on your header, getting kid kisses.:) xoxo,Susie

That sounds similar to my own recipe...and I like that you don't use a lot of seasoning either- I can't take the "heat" of it anymore. Thanks for sharing- I have never made it using the light and dark beans but I will try that next time- Have a great weekend- xo Diana

My aunt and uncle used to host a Fall Festival each year and all the relatives would bring a pot of chili. We would dump it all together in one huge vat. It really was amazing how it tasted so good with all the different receipes mixed.

Blessings... Polly

Nothing like a good bowl of chili on a cold winter day. I love that there are so many variations.

I love chili and always think of entering a cook off one day, not because I think I would win, but for the experience- then I talk myself out of it. We are getting ready to have a winter storm, may be just the right treat this weekend.
Hope your feeling better!!!!
