A Middle of the Week Hello!

Anyone still out there? It is so hot here in AZ, we see NO ONE! People go from their car straight into their house. We are hitting records this week...yeah!

I have a luncheon to go to on Friday....so I took some time and decorated the gift bag. I love how it turned out....

I got the tag from Sonnys Day Dreams..... it turned out so cute. I can't show what is inside...the recipient might see it.

Not too much happening around here. Looking forward to our girlfriends trip to Cali in a couple of weeks. More about that soon!

Hope you are having a good week. I know a lot of you are suffering from the heat too.

Yes, I have heard about AZ and the dry heat...but here is my thought....turn your oven on to 250 degrees. Stick your head in (now don't really do this!!) oh my, it is hot!!....now put a cup of water in there and put your head in....guess what - it is STILL hot!

So you get my sympathies either way!!

It's 111.....what can we do?

After hubby and I whined about how hot it was too hot to do ANYTHING....he says, lets go to Westgate and have lunch. OK, I said, that means I have to put makeup on!
So we go to a new restaurant there called Saddle Ranch.....it is very AZ!

Wanna ride a bull???

Ha Ha!

Hubby got a chuckle out of this one!

After lunch we step outside and saw the dancing fountains. I stood as close as I could to get wet.....

Afterwards we went into the airconditioned AMC and saw Despicable ME.....this movie is so cute.....the kids in the audience were really enjoying it, as were we.

Came back home....got to enjoy the airconditioning that we are so dearly paying for!!! But it really was a fun afternoon. And yes, my shirt does say her royal highness, the Queen. I have to wear it occasionally so someone who will remain nameless - doesn't forget!!

Bits and Pieces of things....and me!

While we were in Payson I hit a few - well, really quite a few garage sales. But they were not as good this year...I did get a few things....

who doesn't love old wood spools?

and bottles....the old ones were garage sales...see the littlest old one? You would have thought I was trying to buy a gold bullion....the husband could not believe his wife was selling his bottle. I told them, it isn't important, I don't want to cause strife between you....then he says, well alright, I will sell it...I figured he was going to ask like 20.00 after all that, he says about 50cents? what a hoot!

The old doilies were 10 cents....I bought all four they had. I see a pillow in my future.

In one of my recent swaps, my partner sent me an old fuse. I was so excited because I remember these from when I lived at home growing up. I found these for 25 cents....

Then today, I got a sweet envelope in the mail from my dear friend Karen, Some Days are Diamonds. She and I all old friends that just met last year! She sent me a thank you package for helping with some sorority sister stuff....so sweet.

Look at all the goodies....

Look at the old stamp and handwriting.

Cute! Parlez francaise?
Ok, here comes something funny, well, I got a kick out of it. Karen a while back had sent me a Bingo card. She has asked me what I was going to do with it. I laughed and said, nothing, it is the only one I have! So she sent me some more and on her note she said...no hoarding! Hmm, does one have to be one to know one? Just asking!

Well, then I wrote her back and said, but Karen, I have to hoard one thing....I am sure you will understand.

Oh mercy, I have NEVER seen a ring box this little....nope, sorry, hoarding happening here!

I thought I would also tell you all something that few of you know about me in my past life. When I started my blog, it was basically a journal about my home and collections. I really didn't show much crafts. Karen didn't think I was into crafts at all. And for the last few years I had put it on the back burner with everything going on. But in reality, I have done various crafts for years. In fact, I worked many years for Minnesota Fabrics and taught in store classes and did the window displays. But crafts were different 30 some years ago. The closest thing to "altered" was maybe a crazy quilt.
Then I started blogging and fell in love with the look of the old items mixed with fabric and lace...and started back at doing some simple crafts. I am definately a newbie with this new line of mixed media....but I am enjoying it....
so, what should I do with those bingo cards??? hmmmmmmm

I'm Back

We had the best time this weekend up in Payson. I LOVE it there. It was so much cooler. And gorgeous.

I have to tell you that any scenery pictures I get are by miracle totally. Here is why. My wonderful husband when he is traveling is a let's get there kind of guy. Stopping at a view just isn't in his plan. In fact when we were younger and took longer car trips I would yell out the window to the McDonalds sign....two double cheeseburgers, fries and coke....and just throw it in the car as we fly by! I say this to show you this....

I want some kind of award for the above picture. I snapped as we drove by with my extra zoom on. This one is getting framed!

All taken from inside the car, at about (ahem) 65 miles an hour - give or take...I don't want to think!

I went to every garage sale.....they put a map in the paper with the numbers and addresses on it. Don't you just love it?
I am telling you, my legs were so tired from climbing up the driveways to the sales. They were all on hills.... big ones!

This is where Bentley stayed. He really isn't a problem in the car, but he really doesn't like it either. He wanted up by my feet....and being spoiled - he got his way!

We were on the road most of Friday finding those garage sales. Unfortunately, they were not that great. I saw some nice things...but I think they value their stuff more....because the prices were high....I did get a few doilies and a cute pitcher.

Pine always has a 4th of July Flea market on Saturday. We walked through this. I bought a really unusual magnetic bracelet....I will show in another post.

There was a lady with a completely pink display tent...oh, the men made lots of comments about it...but I knew our pink bloggers would be interested.

We came home early to avoid the traffic. It was so much fun. Friday evening my hubs went and got food from Safeway and we ate on our patio at the hotel. He had put the Letterman songs on his phone to serenade us. It was very nice!
I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday weekend.
I am PROUD to be an American!!!

what did we do before computers?

One day when our son was about 8, he asked his dad, "Dad, did you have TV when you were a boy?" "Well, yes son, but it was black and white." Son - "how did you play your games in black and white?" Dad - "Nevermind"

I have been looking for an old typewriter. My friend Debbie, Misty's mom, found this one at a garage sale. It isn't the oldest style, but I was excited to have it. Then last week my friend Candy picked up this old stool for $3.00 for me at an estate sale. I knew exactly what I would do with it. This is now setting in our office. A great reminder of before Delete, and using white out!

Do you love it as much as I do? The only problem...I gotta get a bigger house!

Estate Sale Find

First of all I want to thank everyone who visited my post about our sorority rush project. I had the most comments in my 3 years of blogging. I was one happy girl! But one tired girl. I believe I went to every post and left a comment....if I missed you it is because my comment didn't hold. So let me know, I will stop by again! What amazingly talented women in blogland. Thank you to Karen for all her hard work on this! IF YOU ARE HERE FOR THE RUSH, SCROLL DOWN TO MY PREVIOUS POST

A couple of weeks ago my friend Misty and I went to an Estate sale. They had some great stuff, well over my budget....but I did find one treasure.

look at the lion's head on the legs.

The insert is there also...perfect condition.

the top rolls back.
I just LOVE it! $5.00!
We took Bentley boy to the vet today for his yearly shots. He is a healthy puppy! He and daddy are taking a nap!
I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. I won't be posting again until next week. My CT scan is next Tuesday and you know I always am sick after that...so I will see you again after. I should have lots of holiday pictures to share with you!! Be safe!

Sorority "Rush"

and that is a perfect word for it! I was rushing to get my creation done to post today! We were challenged by Karen to take a copy of our sorority picture and make something with it! I thought, hey, I will make a pillow! I had to flip the picture and then make the paper to iron it onto fabric....and then foof it up! I love how it turned out. Hope you do too!

this pin was mine from high school. Remember when we wore them on our cute little wool skirts??
Karen...see the flower??

For my sorority sisters who don't know me, I am Ceekay. I am from HOT Arizona. I have been blogging almost 3 years. I am so anxious to meet all of you and see all your creations.

OK, Karen....here as you asked....me with my creation!!
