Sunny's Maiden Voyage (with us!)

We took Sunny (our vintage camper) up to Payson.  My hubby wanted to actually stay in her to see what we need to concentrate working on.

All went well.  We had a wonderful time.  Met some really nice campers and about wore ourselves out!

Ok, here is a bit of reality.  You know those gorgeous pictures of the vintage campers and they are so pretty you want to live there full time.  Nope, you don't!

1.  We actually used our camper.  So undoing the seating, getting out the bedding, making up the beds, (we each took a side)....is NOT a simple task!  Of course, I don't have a lot of arm strength, so I was battling it!

2.  Cute table settings are adorable.....and I will do that, but trust me...paper and plastic can go in a bag and you can throw it away!

3.  Where you are supposed to keep your clothes, is one we are still working on.  I used satchels...one for me, one for hubby, and one for meds and etc stuff.  I put them on a cabinet in the "bathroom closet".  That is NOT working for me.  I cannot keep lifting those and digging through to find flip flops.  We do have a plan, and I will share if it works.

4.  The cute chairs I bought at an estate sale that were gold and 70's ish.....yah, uh, those are gone.  We bought good 2013 zero gravity chairs and enjoyed them immensely!

5.  I found out that my dream of having an RV one day is still alive and well.  We used to talk about it BC...(before children) but then it went to the wayside......it is back.

6.  Oh, and the 3 hour nap I took when I got home was WONDERFUL!

Every camper needs a bear doesn't it....I looked and looked for a peace sign necklace....gotta keep looking!!

Remembering the pillows on the couch?  So cute and adorable.  Uh, yah, that didn't work for me either....I didn't want to actually use them, so up on the shelf they went!

My sweet owl that Mary from Mrs. Redo made for Sunny!  (Those bars hold up the half of the bunk that got cut off.  That is what I am cutifying!  I think I will macrame over them one day.

I found this mat at Home Depot in Payson and I had to get it!  Don't look at the floor....we are not there yet!

This is the shelf, and the curtains....see....

I even have LOVE beads!

We had to modify the lamps that were there because the shades were crumbling....we found these shades.  I covered them.  I intend to put pom poms on them to finish them out, when someone decides that pom poms are not diamonds and I find at a reasonable price!

Poor Bentley, I do not know if he LOVED camping or hated it.....he wanted out all the time, but it was raining....then when he was outside, he wanted back in.  He just couldn't decide.

We had a storm that seriously, I think topped all storms.  This pic is on the way home....

We are home, have our to do list and thinking....When can we go again????

What a great post!! Your camper is looking good!! I know, camping is hard work! Living in our RV for 7 months was an adventure! We are now just about ready to set it up for use here at home. I am actually WANTING to clean it up and pretty it up again and go out there and VISIT it!! Not ready to LIVE in it again but a VISIT will be nice. Love your 70's theme!!!

I absolutely love what you've done with Sunny! Every little touch is adorable. As we talked on the phone about the issues of camping in small spaces, there are answers and I know you will find them. Your curtains and lampshades and all the touches you've added are just right.

So glad you got to take your first outing with Sunny - I think you'll continue tweaking this until it gets easier. Love the colors you're using, love the peace signs! Looking great. Happy that you like your little owl! If it helps any, I stayed last week in a beach resort and came home and crashed. Vacations are just hard work!!!

Awesome Ceekay! What a great job you have done already! Poor Bentley, maybe he just doesn't like change ;) Hope he feels more at home in there soon. I just adore all the funky touches you've added.

How fun! We're going camping up at Christopher Creek this coming weekend, my only vacation this year. Next year we are planning a trip to Canada, Washington and maybe Oregon over spring break........we'll see. I hope you're feeling okay.

Lots of hugs,
Meri

Found you through Theresa at Finding Grace Going Mobile. I love your 70's style camper. I'm not a camper kind of girl but yours is cute. My hubby and I are working on a worn out, torn up, debt free double wide. Feel free to visit my by blog anytime. Think I'll read some of your earlier posts. Glad I found you.

Like what you've done...makes me want to go but it is too hot right now...about the metal straps, you might try gluing wide ribbon on the front of them.

I can't wait to see Sunny in person. You have to try things out to see what works and doesn't work. Looks like you've learned a lot!

Your right Ceekay, making those beds is no easy task! Sometimes all our prettying things up does make more work for us. Do you think we will ever learn? Probably not! Love the new mat, the darling owl, and the shades you made!

Love hearing the reality of what works and what didn't from you. You are so smart to camp in it to see what you will need before continuing to much further. My husband says he always looses weight on our camping trips because we are constantly busy! LOL! I am sorry to hear you had rain on your first trip, I promise you will enjoy it more with better weather. I am still enjoying seeing your camper so much. It's just adorable!

Oh, poor one! I understand a little about space in a little bitty space! We do have a tiny little closet but it doesn't hold much. We have no place to set anything in our bathroom. I love all you've done to your little trailer. I didn't know if these had bathrooms or not. Glad yours does. Love all of your cute pillows and the theme you're using.
Camp on, sister!

So glad your maiden-voyage was a success -- I think it was a success, right? Payson seems like the perfect place to go camping since it's so close to home. That rug is perfect with all your fun colors and patterns -- you definitely need some love beads and "some flowers for your hair!"

Sometimes you can find pompoms in mixed colors and sizes in the craft sections of our favorite stores!

Hey, what do you mean don't look at the floor??? Isn't that what they considered groovy in the day? My Hubby and I have talked about renting a camper for a vacation---I say I couldn't endure it for long! I like comfy rooms and reading spaces and hot bathtubs!
