Grrrrrrr!!!! (UPDATE)

I told you I had a decorating problem that I need help with.  So here it goes.

The wall behind the table has the curio in the corner.  Everything that is sitting on that wall is staying there...why?  there is no place else to put it.

I love my little cuckoo clock.  My husband bought it for me from Frankenmuth, MI.  So.....I put it on the left of the buffet....but then I thought maybe I should put it on the other side to balance out the lighter wood.  I just don't know how to decorate this wall.  The right side has the stupid switchplate that I cannot cover.  So, even if I put something to balance the cuckoo on the right.....do I just leave the space above the switchplate empty?  And if not, what do I put.  I don't want anything too busy because of the stuff in the curio.

See.....I NEED HELP!

I don't want a photograph....I would like to keep it sorta dressy....although, as you can see, I mix things up all over the place!
I do not have 2 pictures the same size and move the cuckoo, (although I don't know where!).  Trust me I looked!
Maybe I am just over thinking this....but HELP!  What would you do?

OK....I changed a couple of things and I like it and I will explain why I did what I did....but I still have an empty spot...Guess I will have to buy something...

I had the framed prints of Helen Keller's phrase....so I put that where the cuckoo clock was...and I had tried that before....but I moved the cuckoo clock over more and higher, the same height as the top of the glass hurricane lamps on the other side....I haven't talked to hubs about the switch, but I kinda know what the answer is going to be.

I changed the plant to one that is taller and put it in a crock to match all the other crocks... and I like that.

I also put some greenery around the hurricane lamps. These lamps were from my husband's family original farm house, so I like them out....

I think if I find another frame similar to the one on the right it will finish it the way I see it.

I am also going to add some plates above the mirror, but I don't know exactly what yet....I would like ironstone, but I don't have any....something to look for....

So NOW what do you all think??

How about a triangular grouping of white plates above and on the side of the mirror?

It's PERFECT! I LOVE CUCKOO CLOCKS! and I like exactly where you have it. MOVE THE PLANT so it's RIGHT under it. AND CAN you BUY a NEW SWITCH PLATE so it's not BRIGHT WHITE. Get one you can MAYBE paint the color of the wall OR a wooden one? Don't put ANYTHING around it. It's perfect just like that... LOVE the room and REALLLLY LOVE the cloche in the center of your table!
Big Hugs to you,
Donna

I would paint the switch plate cover the same color as the wall... at least it would blend a little better. Do you have something else that is wood or the same color as the clock that you could put on the other side, making the wall balance. I hate it when things don't fall into place easy.... I'm going through that in my bedroom right now. Grrrrr Good luck.

I don't know what to tell you but I have to say I love that dining room - so filled with beautiful and interesting things. Good luck on any changes you want to make, I think the idea above, now that I've read it, to change the switch plate is a good one. I have a cuckoo clock my Air Force uncle brought me from Germany's Black Forest, and it's hanging in my dining room as well! Hugs ~ Mary

I agree with painting the switch plate so it disappears. What about another plant, taller (maybe sitting inside the large crock) to the left of the buffet. I would also try putting the plant on the right side on something a bit higher. Isn't it amazing how some of those smaller issues are the ones that drive us crazy....lol!

Ceekay your new home is looking so pretty!!! Are you enjoying it- looks like you are pretty settled in now!

I have the same thought of camouflaging the light switch area. I wish I was there so we could just try a few different things out with what you have there- you have such neat things I know it will come together. Sometimes I just have to let things sit for a bit and then I have a light bulb moment for what would work. (I am still waiting for that with the dining room!)

Just finished Rodeo Bible Camp and i am trying to recoop my energy- been laying low the last few days just doing what is absolutely necessary and feeling lazy!

The walls need more excitement! The cuckoo clock is too small but if you hung it over the light switch it would look better. There needs to be something at least half the size of the mirror on each side of the mirror. A tall silk plant on top of the curio cabinet would help the corner. Good luck!

Is it stealing someone's photo if you tell them that you stole it? I stole it. I had to try the suggestions offered. I have it and will return it if you want to see what I mean. Go ahead. Slap me, but it looks soooo cute!

I like the idea of the plates and also I would probably paint the switch plate cover so it would then "disappear". I think you need something tall on the left side in the crock...a tall green ,kinda skinny, plant? You are doing a good job, Ceekay. It will just all fall into place at some point. xo Diana

I came to comments to say, paint the switch plate but I see several have beat me to it. I think your room is looking good.

I like the plate idea and maybe run 2 or 3 small ones under the light switch. Plus changing the plate will just make it disappear too.
You've made it into such a warm and pretty place to be, love your ideas!
Hugs,
Cindy

Hi Carolyn...I would remove the picture to the right of buffet and place white plates on the right and left side of mirror. Is there another place to put the clock?
