what did we do before computers?

One day when our son was about 8, he asked his dad, "Dad, did you have TV when you were a boy?" "Well, yes son, but it was black and white." Son - "how did you play your games in black and white?" Dad - "Nevermind"

I have been looking for an old typewriter. My friend Debbie, Misty's mom, found this one at a garage sale. It isn't the oldest style, but I was excited to have it. Then last week my friend Candy picked up this old stool for $3.00 for me at an estate sale. I knew exactly what I would do with it. This is now setting in our office. A great reminder of before Delete, and using white out!

Do you love it as much as I do? The only problem...I gotta get a bigger house!

This is one neat typewriter, Ceekay! I can't imagine how people typed without their fingers killing them! Great find!

How neat. I typed a million miles on one of those. I think I even still have a word processor somewhere, that was really getting advanced. lol It looks fabulous on the stool. Hugs, Marty

I do love it, even now it is amazing. I saw an even older one last weekend, I didn't even have the time to really check it out, now I wish I had! :D

OK, not to date myself, but I think I learned to type on one of those in Jr. High!
Yeah, I think we all need a bigger house! Especially if we have kids that still live at home! :)
Enjoy your weekend! Crossing fingers for lots of FUN finds!

Gosh, reminds me of typing class and those awful typewriters that you had to stretch your fingers to reach the keys! LOL, I'm telling my age!

I like your little vingette.

I do remember typing on those old typewriters and having the keys get stuck sometimes. We have come a long way, but those old ones sure do have a lot of charm.
I love how you have displayed it and what a cute idea to type a welcoming note.

I remember that style of typewriter. My Dad had one and he let me learn on it. While I have been through several computers, that typewriter probably still works great lol...
Loved seeing it, that brought back memeories.. Thank you so much for visiting me...

Sometimes we are reminded of how old we seem to our wee ones...I was talking about my great grandchildren one day to the Princess and she seemed uncertain I would be around when she has children...There's no guarantee of course but she did get to know her great grandparents on my side..and has some good memories of them...so who knows...of course I got started on my family much sooner than my children did.
I forget about how things have changed until I read a book like Summer at Tiffany which I am reading now. it takes place during WWII when women seldom wore pants, wore gloves with their dresses, etc.

What a fun typewriter - it brings back lots of memories having typed for years on one similar. Have a joyous 4th. Sally BTW, I keep checking your teal blog - so glad things are going well, so there has been no need to update us. That is wonderful.

Cheekay,
Oh that typewriter is the COOLEST! I'm jealous, I've been hunting for one for ages. Funny story about the black & white tv. I remember life without cable!
Thanks for your sweet comment on the soapboxes. I'd LOVE to see what you come up with. Lisa

Ob boy I remember when I had to type 50 words a minute to get a job, wow was that hard and now when I am retired I go like crazy on the computer. I am late at stopping bye to say hi to a fellow sorority sister. I had company last week but settled in now. You made me stop and think I am happy to be in the high teck world.

I DO love it as much as you do! :) I have an old typewriter but it needs a ribbon. Isn't it funny how different it feels from your key board?

I hope you have a great 4th!
