World's Greatest Greatest

There once was a little girl who was a Daddy's girl and a BIT spoiled.  Daddy would take her shopping and always found some little thing for her to have.  In 1962 this little girl and her daddy walked to a store on Van Dyke road in Warren Michigan.  She saw this little Santa and wanted him soooo much.  So of course, Daddy bought it for her.  They didn't know that this shopping trip was one of the few last fun times spent together.  Her daddy died right before Christmas the following year.  Every year since, this Santa ornament has a place of honor among the decorations.  He is showing his age.  But no ornament will ever be as precious to that little girl....

My Daddy has been in Heaven for 47 years now.  Unfortunately, I don't remember much about my dad.  I was 9 when he died, but 8 when he got sick.  I spent a lot of my time at my Aunt's....but I remember that he loved me.  I just treasure this ornament.  I bet you have ornaments with stories too!!

I feel like crying! That was so moving and precious. So happy you still have that ornament to reflect back on the happy memories you have of him.

Love your header!

Hi there, thanks for your visit. I love this story, sad too but it is so neat that being loved is what you remember. That is what matters most isn't it?! You have a great Christmas! ;D

Big ole tears streaming down my cheeks... Bless your heart sweetie..
I too was a daddy's girl and I had him with me till I was 17, though 14 of those years he was sick and just got sicker, off and on..
I am so happy you have that santa and your memories and still hold the love he had for you in your heart and spirit..
I have no doubt he visits still after all these many years and grins when he sees that santa displayed, gives you a soft kiss on the cheek and then goes back to his angel duties...
(((CeeKay))) wish you could feel this hug...

This post is so sweet and so sad both. What wonderful memories you have. This reminds me of a time when I was about 8. My mother had gone to visit some relatives for the weekend. Just my dad and I were left at home. I got sick and spent the time in bed. My dad went to the dime store and bought me a little puppet that I had been wanting. Things like that you don't forget.
Love your sparkly name at the top. Today your blog first made me laugh, and then made me cry.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Hugs & blessings,
Charlotte

That is so special! Our tree is full of memories, also. I can't imagine decorating it any other way. Enjoy the countdown week to the celebration of our Savior's birth. What a blessing that you appear to be feeling so well. Sally

Oh, Ceekay! What a touching story and you were so young to loose your Daddy and he was young too. But that is a darling little Santa he bought for you. I'm like you and was a Daddy's girl. He's in heaven too and I'm sure they've both met and have exchanged stories about their girls - us!
Bless you, Dear One.

Oh Ceekay,
What a precious memory! I can't help but cry from this moving experience you share.
The ornament is just beautiful in appearance and memory. I know you treasure it deeply.

I am sorry you lost your daddy at such a young age, but you had so much love and learning from him in such a short time the years can't be counted. I know he is looking down and very proud of you.

Merry Christmas dear friend.
Love and hugs from Texas, Celestina Marie
