A Blue Wednesday

I have been cleaning out my closet today. I HATE doing it, but I have to once in a while! I found this shoe that my mom bought me probably 35 years ago. It has no marking, but it is similar to Fenton.

The flowers are hand painted on.
The reason I thought about the blue shoe is because while cleaning the closet my husband called with a message that made me blue. Anyone who lives in AZ knows Bill Austin from the famous morning show of Beth and Bill. I tell you, the two of them are hilarious. Many mornings driving to work I would seriously have to pull into a parking lot and compose myself because I was laughing so hard. Bill retired in February and has been missed. My husband and I knew he was suffering from some sort of cancer because we are familiar with "the look". Anyways, Bill passed away this morning. I am so sad. I had the privilege of meeting Beth and Bill about 5 years ago, and I have pictures from that meeting. He was so kind and funny that day as well.
Life is so strange sometimes. Even though I hardly knew the man, his passing has hurt my heart a bit. Maybe because I understand some of the thoughts and feelings he must have felt in these past few months. But I will never think about him without smiling and remembering his song about Beth and decorating for the holidays. It was like he was at my house!!

What an amazing glow that shoe had in your pictures! Very pretty -- sorry you're feeling blue today over the loss of a "carpool friend" -- it does sometimes seem that they're talking just to us -- thanks for your sweet visit to my tabletop this week.

That's sad Ceekay. I don't know them, but maybe my son does.
When I first saw your blue shoe I thought man, does she ever have a little foot!
Honestly, I thought they were a style from the 70's, like disco or something.
Hugs, Cindy

That is a very cute blue shoe. No telling what I would find in my closet. It is sad to lose someone that you were use to listening to everyday plus the fact that you met him. It is so sad how many we lose to cancer.

Ceekay, I love your shoe. What a precious piece.

I havn't had the tv or radio on until just now and heard about Bill's passing on the news. So sad. I loved it when he did the weather on Channel 12. He really was a funny man. So sad. Hope you are having a fabulous day. Hugs, Marty

HI Ceekay....how sweet that 'blue' shoe is. I always enjoy your posts. I am sending your goodies tomorrow in the mail. You know the saying 'a day late and a dollar short" well the first part was truly written about me...a day late...for weddings, church, baptisms, you name it. Ha...I've missed many an event by one day...oh my.
Have a wonderful day sweet person!
Blessings,
Debbie

What a precious gift from your Mom...it DOES look like Fenton.

I'm sorry you received sad news today, Ceekay....I did, too. My son called late this afternoon...I thought it was in response to the happy birthday song I had left him on his cell phone earlier. However, he called to say one of their young friends (whom we knew) had just passed away. She was in her early thirties, mother to four young children (that she home-schooled). She had been dealing with strange health issues ever since I had met her (over a year ago)...but after a recent surgery, they were optimistic she was on the road to recovery. Sadly, this afternoon, she died from a blood clot in a lung. I have had her on my mind ever since...I just can't stop thinking about how horrible it is and about her poor children. It's just the saddest situation. I do know that she is not suffering now...but her poor children are.

Saying a prayer . . .
it is strange how someone we really don't know on a personal level - can just make your heart hurt when we lose them. That happened to be with our Angel pitcher Nick Adenhardt. It just hit hard.

wonderful shoe! I too was sad when hearing that mr Austin had passed away. Didn't you love when they use to do Friends day wednesday!! Bill would always say if you look at us online Beth is the beautiful blonde and I am the middle aged fat guy..lol. They were such a funny group. I LOVED when they had their cooking show. When he retired i too knew something was not right. He will truly be missed.

Hi Ceekay...

That really is sad....and we do sort of befriend some of the personalities from tv/radio because we have them in our homes or cars so often. I'm so sorry about his loss, for his family and for his larger "family"... How wonderful that he gave you so many years of laughter. I love it when someone is so funny your sides hurt...

Big hugs dear one....

Oh I knew he had cancer and was so hoping he would beat it!

I guess heaven needed a few more laughs.

Your blue shoe is glowing and very pretty. How sad that Bill died, one half of the team that made you laugh. Maybe he is entertaining in heaven today.
