My Show and Tell - on a pole

When Tom and Rose were here we took a drive through the Apache Trail. I showed you the pictures a few posts ago. Anyways, when we were coming back I said to my husband...do you see that on those poles. Well, it took a few pointing out, but eventually he saw what I saw, old insulators. I was in shock. I can't believe they are still there. Well, I just had to have a picture. After much screaming on my part....going on roads that I don't consider a road....I got my pictures.

But see the really fun part is that I have an old insulator. For YEARS! It was such fun to see one on the electric pole!

I bought this stand for it years ago in Wisconsin.

It has its place on my shelf above the entertaiment center with all my other old "stuff"!

Don't forget to check out the other Show and Tell's at Cindy's and My Favorite Things Saturday at Laurie's. I am going to try my best to visit everyone.

I sure hope and pray you are better today, and that the Drs. get this figured out for you. I saw some insulators on a pole recently, too; and was surprised that they were still being used. Take care, Sally

I have seen these in thrift stores but never saw the application of the original use.

Love it!. Need a ride tomorrow?

Oh my gosh, I had no idea those were still used! I have a couple of old blue ones and I also had no idea stands were made for them. Ceekay's in the know!

I'm so glad you're up to blogging a bit today. love you lots...Kathy

Hi Ceekay,
Your picture is great. My dad was a telephone splicer and has a few of these insulators but none have a stand. Was the stand built specifically for this purpose? If not, it is just perfect and a wonderful way to display your treasure!

Hi Ceekay,
My MIL has some of those too. I think they are so neat. Where I live in rural Idaho, it hasn't been many years since these have been changed. I can remember them up on the poles when I first moved here from Boise. The 'troublemakers' would always go down the country roads and shoot them out. Bad, very bad.lol
I wanted to ask you a little more about your book you had done on your blog. Were you happy with the paper quality and the printing of it? i would love to get one done as well, but am having trouble deciding where to have it done.
hugs

Hey, Ceekay, you found a cool use for your insulator, and how neat that you recognized them still in use and took photos to share here.

Ceekay, I had no idea those were still on poles! What a neat stand for yours. Glad you didn't have to climb the pole to get yours! This would be a good linkup for Favorite Things Saturdays on my blog. I hope you'll think about linking it. I know this insulator in it's pretty stand would be one of my favorite things if I had it. laurie

I love what you did with the insolator -- I used to have one myself....now where did that thing go?

Hello there Ms. Ceekay! I have found you through (I'm not sure who) but want you to know I am here in Central Oregon 'pulling' for you and sending you all of the 'positive' energy I can.

Ceekay, I just came from your other blog. I didn't realize what you have been going through. Girl, you are such a strong person, beautiful and a fighter! I know what it's like to have bad days. I have stable angina, and some days the chest pain just seems to consume my every thought. God is good and He cares for us. I could go on and on here. Just know you are in my prayers.
hugs and love,
Debra

Oh CeeKay sweetie...
I have bunches of those and I just love them. I had them outside with lights under them to make a light garden path. Love them.

I will miss you today. I am so sorry you cannot make it. We will be thinking of you though.

I went Laura's blog this morning (Decore to Adore) one of our AZ bloggers, her mother passed away suddenly this morning, so she will be traveling to CA. I thought you would want to know.

I will post pictures later today for tomorrows post. I still made something for you also.

Love ya girl...Many hugs to you, Sherry

I like yours on its stand. Was the stand made to display insulators ? I had one or 2 at one time, but that was another thing I got rid of when I started getting rid of most of my country and primitive things.
Enjoy your weekend.

Ceekay, I heard a lady speak on her collection of insulators about 15 years ago. It was fascinating and the examples she brought with her were interesting and beautiful. It underscored the connection of functionality and beauty. Love, Annie Joy

Neat! I didn't know they made stands for them. I found one years ago when I was digging up the garden...I don't know what I did with it.
