I am sure you heard it....

the squealing around 11:30 AM?? that was ME!

My friend Candy and I went Estate Saleing....and I found a treasure. At least it is a treasure for me!

This "trunk" type box. It was used to mail parcels. I was so excited....

Original label still on it!

These were the stamps and the date 1949 of its last mailing. Look at the metal casing....

33 cents to mail a package! Today...almost $33.00

This was from and to.....

The strapping is perfect. I just love this kind of "thing". Plus, I can use it for storage....

I had such a fun time and yes, I did buy some other things...a couple which will be part of a giveaway for my 400th post in the future!

The only down side??? I AM TIRED!

Remember to check out the other Show and Tell's at Cindy's.

I love old things that have names, addresses, postage, etc. What a great find. Are you putting it up above the entertainment center?
The straps look new.
What a difference the cost of mailing a package today. Whew!
Get some rest and feel better.

Oh my gosh, Cee-Kay ... I have its twin in my guest-room closet! I think mine began life at my grandparents, then accompanied me to summer camp ... college ... etc.
One of those things I just take for granted. Perhaps I should look again?

You do have teacups! I like your header on your blog. My husband nabbed an aligator suitcase when were first married, they also had the tote bag and we could only afford one, so we got the suitcase. I love it and it is sitting at the foot of our bed. We still lamment the other case, so sad to be young with no money, and old with no money too! But, now we have learned to bargain better.

Hi CeeKay-- I used to have one of these in 1953-55 when I went to boarding school. I would send my dirty clothes home in it to my mother on Monday. She would do my laundry and ironing and send them back to me by Thursday. The whole procedure sounds so strange now, but we didn't have access to laundry facilities then. Great service that Moms provide, unh? Take care, Sally

Thanks for stopping by Ceekay! I scrolled through your posts and saw the one of your charm bracelets! Very nice! BUT now I want an iguana charm! I love iguanas! I once rescued a pair and had them for quite a while. Very interesting pets. Really!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Oh my gosh, great find Ceekay!!!
I would have gone wild too.
Can't wait to see how you display it.
Btw, I am drawn to anything from 1949. Seriously, i will find something I love and invariably it was made in 1949. I actually wore my Mom's 1949 class ring for many years.
So i was thrilled to see that the date was 1949!
