Valentine's Love is Popping Up!

I want to get a post up today and say hi to everyone. I have out of state company here with me through Sunday....so I know you understand, I am a little preoccupied!
My cousin from Miami is visiting. I saw her last spring at her home, and now she is coming to mine. My cousin and her husband were missionaries with Campus Crusade for Christ for many years in Bogata, Columbia.....so we didn't get to see each other much....but we are going to try to make up for some lost time!
Her mom is my mom's sister, who is 93 years old!! and still lives alone and goes to church and see her kids in other states at least once a year!

Anyways, my table is ready for my company....Jan, my cousin, and my birthday are only 6 days apart in February....so we both enjoy the valentine look!!

My daughter called me and said she heard of a sale on Bridal gowns....should we go look?

So today, I had one of the biggest joys of my life.....going Wedding dress shopping with my only daughter.

And she fell in love with Dress #3....and yes......mom cried!

This past Christmas I asked my husband to pick me up a roll of S*otch Tape. I had one, but I wanted to BE SURE I had enough for all those packages to wrap.

I told you that we have been cleaning the boxes in the garage. Giving the kids all their school things, putting pictures all together, YOU KNOW, organizing!

Now, I consider myself fairly organized. If you ask for a safety pin....I know where they are. All my sewing thread is in the sewing box...(if I used it last!)....wellllllll......

I found another roll of tape.

Oh, I should put this with the other two, so I have them together.....

Oh lookie, I found a roll for our dispenser....we are good with tape for next year!

So anyways....I just thought I would let you know......as far as tape is concerned...

My Winter Tablescape

I cannot believe a week has gone by since I posted. My husband and I are cleaning the garage and I have gone through every tub and box....giving the kids all their school papers and putting every picture this family owns together, in hopes that someday I will get them organized! Anyways.....
I wanted to show my winter tablescape before I change it to Valentine's.

Yes, I still have my carolers out...I am just not ready to put them away! and I figure there is no Christmas Caroler police warrant for me....so I can leave them out if I wanna!!!

These sweet snow ornie candles were 3 in a packages from I don't know where!! Sorry..I have had a couple of years....

My daugher gave me this snowbaby probably 15 years ago. The head of the snowman moves while it plays Frosty the Snowman.

My daugher also gave me this snowcouple. They light up in different colors...here you see the blue. I have had this for about 4 years now.

I found these sweet little trees at the dollar tree. I wish I had bought more! Hopefully they will have them again next year. And the glasses with the snowflakes are Dollar Tree also....I wish they would have them again, I only have 4! My hubby hates when I just buy 4, cuz he says if one gets broke...then what???

My Mercury glass holder and tea light came separately from Target after Christmas sales about 3 years ago.

These napkin rings were also from Target about 12 years ago...seriously!

I got these as a gift from Liz at Rose Vignettes last Christmas...aren't they precious!

I am crazy about this snowflake mirror....I think it was Target last year.

He Is Always Surprising Me!

Boy, there is an understatement. I remember when my hubby and I were engaged....he promised our life wouldn't be boring....He has kept his promise!

Something I don't know if I have ever shared, but my husband does most of the grocery shopping. He likes to go EARLY in the morning...like 6:00AM.....so Tuesday evenings we make out our list...I must be VERY detailed....and when I get up Wednesday morning, the shopping is done and the perishables put away. However, everything else is out of the bags, like on display on the counter. My hubs says it is the hunter man showing his hunt to his mate! (insert cave man grunting here) OKAY....

Last week he left for the day of work before I was up and I came in to see the usual counter full. But wait....oh isn't that sweet, he bought a Tea for One for me!! (I am thinking, oh, he hit a sale table...)

Isn't it cute???? But wait....what else is this????

Oh mercy....this is too stinkin' cute! A cake server like a High Heel Shoe. I just love it...and my surprises...and my Hubby!!

Potpourri Post

Fancy way of saying a little of this, little of that...no real plan.

First of all I want to tell you that for the last 3 days I have been working faithfully on my Blogroll and Following Blogs. I visited so many of you and have tried to get caught up with everyone. As you all know, I do things a little differently!!! and I really prefer using my Blogroll. Habit I guess. When you all comment to me I put you in a Outlook file and then I know to visit you within a few days....Well, with the holidays I got kinda behind...so I updated my lists...Yeah!

I wanted to also show you a picture of a favorite meal I made MYSELF this holiday. My hubby won't eat it. But I LOVE IT! It is my grandma's crepe. There is no recipe. I make it with 2 eggs, a little milk, and a little flour. Sorry, that's really how I make it...I would say 2-3 T of milk....1 T flour....Mix and pour in hot skillet with melted butter. Make sure it fills the whole skillet....let it sit like a pancake....and then turn. That's the hard part! Anyways, a minute or so on the other side and voila (cuz, I don't know what the word would be in German!) my grandma's crepe. Ok, now hold on....you take about a half of cup of Cottage cheese and add a T of sugar. Yes....sugar. Spread on crepe. Roll. Pour Maple syrup on it.....oh, I tell you, it takes me right back to my Grandma's kitchen.

I could eat 3 of them...but I only make 1. Without the maple syrup, I don't think it would be too diet destroying....but I have to have the maple syrup!

I thought I would show you a couple of pics of what I got for Christmas....the purse and pot were from my son and his girlfriend. My daughter got me a digital picture frame...it is a real nice one! And my hubby....well, he gave me a bag full, and I am not kidding....of Stainless Steel jewelry from HSN. I love that stuff! It is indestructable! and very affordable.

I must say I have 2 other favorite gifts....well, after my Coach purse. My friend Candy gave me...

My husband bought me the door lock thingy...when we went to Glendale Glitters...it was in one of the antique shops...I had the door knob...he didn't quite understand why I wanted it...but he got it for me anyway!

A Collection

My husband laughed....quite a bit actually. What collection should I show? I mean...am I supposed to pick a favorite? I can't. They are like my children. You can't have a favorite. You love them each for themself.
I could show my hymnal collection, my teacup collection...teapots, salt cellars...cameras?....frames....plates....kitchen utensils....rolling pins? quilts.....snowmen.....nativities...
Get the idea? Ok, so now you are laughing with my hubby.

Well, since I have them out now...because it is January and I always put them out in January to remind me of snow....I will show my white pitcher collection. You have seen it before if you have visited last year January....but this is a collection PAR_TAY at the Polohouse and honestly, I am an only child and I don't want to be left out!!

I am just crazy about how the sun in coming in and leaving the shadows!!

A dear friend sent me this card a couple of years ago...I loved it so much I framed it....

Another Year of Blogging!

I always do a collage of pictures from blogging for the end of the year. When I went through my posts I realized that I mostly crafted and visited friends and family. So I would say 2011 was a great year.
I usually don't talk much about it on this blog, but living with cancer is difficult. I hate it! The doctors, the meds, the tests, the needles.....hate it all....but with that being said, no one thought that I would see 2012 come in. But I am!
Cancer has robbed me of many things....time, hair, employment, energy at times, financial happiness.....but it cannot rob me of the love I have for my Lord, life, my family and friends. And you my blogging buddies, you are truly some of my dearest friends. You have prayed for me, laughed with me, cried with me....and no earthly words can tell you what it truly means to me.

I hope and pray you each have a wonderful 2012.....that there will be many joys and laughter, and few tears and heartache.....but that is the gift the Lord is giving us...whatever it brings......Another Year!

I finished a photo album for Bentley...

I decopaged ornies with vintage music...

I made every bit of this bracelet at Terri Brush's class!!

I put together a memory box...

and embroidered a pillow for a gift....

I altered some note cards....

and a date frame.....

made my husband a love frame....

and a swap gift for Mryna...

I altered a note book for Karen....

and did a floral arrangement...

in a vintage butter dish....

I copied Jane's snowman.....

and made a magnet board....

Karen and I competed for a pillow finishing contest...she won!

I made a little shelf in my kitchen using spools...

I helped decopage the big 60 for Ro's party...

I made a little snowman ornie for an ornament exchange...

I also started a few items...but they didn't get finished....oh well, there is always 2012!

I do have a BIG project coming in 2012....but more on that later....

This is me yesterday with my grandchildren.....I adore them!

This is our whole family....my daughter and her two kids, and my son and his girlfriend, and her little boy. And Bentley!!

BTW, my daughter got engaged yesterday. So she was quite happy!

I thought you would get a kick out of seeing craziness at our home....I have this Ms. Snow lady that sings Santa Baby...so we had a little fun!

Prayers Needed Please...

Edited Friday evening.....the family appreciates so much all your concern and prayers. It is very difficult but God is giving strength. Thank you.

As I type this I really can't believe it. It was almost to the day a year ago that I asked for prayer for Kathy and her family in the death of her son's wife at childbirth. Now this year I ask you to pray for my cousin and her family. My cousin Betty's grandaughter's baby boy, 4 months old was found not breathing this morning. You can imagine the awfulness of this and especially at this time. We don't know if it was SIDS yet. This would be my like great, great, great cousin.
We definately don't understand do we, when something like this happens. I know firsthand the pain of losing a baby.
Just yesterday his mommy (on facebook) posted pictures of Colby in his Christmas outfit.

Jesus has another sweet baby with him this Christmas.

I met Liz from Rose Vignettes for lunch today at the Spicery in Glendale. This is a quaint little house that has been made into a restaurant.

After our delicious lunch we just HAD to hit a couple of the sweet shops in the area...

I so want this sweet frame but I can't buy it for myself!!

I did have to buy this sweet silver and white nest for my tree...and

This sweet snowman face...it is like a yoyo backwards...so cute!

Liz gifted me with this sweet, absolutely adorable and I LOVE tea set that are ornaments! But they are staying out all year!! Thanks Liz for such a fun day...and being my dear friend.

The other day I met with Marty from a Stroll Thru Life....Marty brought me the sweetest gift also....

a blinged out bottle stopper....I love it! Thank you Marty....you are an inspiration to me!

An Early Christmas Present

This was a busy day. I woke up early on this cold and rainy day and went for my Chemo treatment. Afterwards, hubby and I went shopping for our granddaughter's birthday present. Today is her 6th birthday! She wanted a Justin Bieber doll that sang. Oh Lord, please, help me find one, just one, that is all I need. Walk into Kmart and there he was in all his teenage glory! Yeah! Drove over to our daughter's place so gift would be there when granddaughter got home from school. Gave daughter her birthday gift ($$) because she wanted it early. Her birthday is Christmas Eve. (Just inserting that if I have more grandchildren, let me put it on record, that April or May is a nice birthday month too!! Please no more December!! thank you!)

My husband says, we have to go one more stop. OK....didn't have a clue where...but it was a fantastic exclusive floral shop. He ordered me a gorgeous Christmas centerpiece. He almost never forgets. Every Christmas it is either a huge poinsettia or an arrangement. It is gorgeous and I was thrilled!

My dress form that I won from Polka Dot closet came today...but I am not looking at it until after Christmas. I want to give it my full attention!

Oh, and my Christmas card post. When I said, "you get it don't you?" I didn't mean there was a secret in the card....it was from Target last year and is all black and white with silver glitter. It was such a vintage looking card, I had to buy them. My husband thought the tree looked anemic! He DID NOT GET it! So I meant you think it is cute right??? I just got the biggest kick out of all the guesses....sorry to disappoint.

Well, really, all I have left to do is wrap a few presents...find something for my hubby, which trust me, is a NIGHTMARE! I plan on making a few cookies...peanut butter blossums for my son.....and 7 layer for....ME!

But tomorrow? What am I doing???

Our Christmas Tree

I had every intention of doing my Christmas tree different this year. I was going to get burlap ribbon, and mix some brown ornies in...but I couldn't find the burlap. I am learning though, (at least I am working on learning) that some things are the way the are for a reason.
I put up the same tree, same decorations that I have had the last 5 years at least. And I found out that I still love it the same way I did every other year.
The tree is all white and silver. I use tulle as the ribbon. All the decorations are snowflakes, icicles, snow related. I think I love it so much because it reminds me of snow from home - back in Michigan.
Anyways....here is my tree at night. I love turning on everything that can be lit up at night and just enjoying the beauty!

Encouragement from a Friend...

I know that I mentioned that we are going through an issue here, it is still ongoing, and someday I will share it. But for now I have to share the little gift I received in the mail from my friend Kathy. She knows how important encouragement is, because she is raising her granddaughter after her daughter in law died in childbirth last year at Christmas. She is amazing...but here is what she sent me!

I just love Kathy to death. We have been friends for over 30 years. We have had our share of heartache in those years...but I tell you, no one is as funny as Kathy to me...we hold NOTHING back...and tell each other exactly how we think it is!! Now that is a friendship!

I wanted to show this Santa my husband found on a little job he was doing....Isn't he wonderful? The colors are PERFECT for our home!

I finished my Christmas decorating....Took me a few days, because it is me, the LONE DECORATOR!! But now I can sit back and enjoy...here are a few more pictures....

I just love this vignette. The mercury glass candle stick and tree were from Target 2 years ago. The Santa picture was from Homegoods 3 years ago and the little silver holder was from Tai Pan this past year....

My family room is all about Santa...my Living Room is all about Jesus!

This is the garland on our entertainment unit. Several years ago, I think it was the Nester who talked about doing garlands by sticking the picks in to the garland. I do it every year now.

My dining table all in red and gold. I love the traditional colors. I really do try to update, but I just like the old stayed and true!

This plates and mugs were a set from Kirkland a couple years ago. Red flatware they still sell at Walmart.

I went crazy over these glasses this year at Kroger. They have all kinds of words relating to Christmas.

There are my bell napkin rings....these are the ones I have to make sure when company leaves they don't take them....no, really, I am serious. Everyone, including guys want to jingle them right out of my house!

My Bethlehem Lights centerpiece...several years old...from QVC.

This was fun...I just grabbed a basket and filled it...it has my wedding Bible opened to Luke...my grandma's glasses...a family Christmas photo from last year, and the plate was from HomeGoods last year. I only bought the one...I love it with the house on it!

My absolutely gorgeous Santa. My husband bought this for me 5 years ago when I was so sick. He is a real favorite of mine, but then again...it all is a favorite!

Story time....the baker Santa I have had several years. I always put him on top of my refrigerator. Just today I went to Michaels and I saw the Santa elf helper. Oh, you KNOW I grabbed him...I KNEW he would be perfect by Santa!

Dinner is done, kitchen is clean...kids have gone home, grandpa and grandma are pooped. But I wanted to post pictures of our Thanksgiving Turkey Decor...they are all gathered up on the dining table, waiting to be wrapped up and put back into storage. I always am a bit sad...saying goodbye for a while to my harvest decorations....but I can't waste time on tears, cuz Christmas is coming FAST!

We found this last poor scarecrow at Hobby Lobby the other day....80 percent off...he was $7.00!

This was the last and ONLY K at Hobby Lobby....got for $5.00.

This turkey is probably 20 years old. I get the biggest kick that he is sitting in the chair!

I looked everywhere for Pilgrims this year with no luck. This poor anorexic ones were the best I could do...they are probably 20 years old too!

I changed out the scarecrows for the turkeys....

When I visited with Karen, she gave me this beautiful cornacopia...she was changing colors...you can see it is perfect for our home.

This is so funny. My grandkids take Karate...I found this outfit after halloween, so I wanted Bentley to wear it when they came. He was scared to death of it! He would not move...

We had a wonderful day. My grandkids are getting so big. My granddaughter had to wear the orange T-shirt....just for Grandma....they always run up to me and tell me how much they love me....can there really be much anything greater than that?

An Advent Creation

I finally got the wash caught up. Did the grocery shopping for Thanksgiving and held an estate sale...thank you for all the good thoughts. Don't you hate when life is so swirly twirly you don't know if you are coming or going....I really enjoy calm! and the older I get...the calmer I want it!
While I was visiting with Karen - Some Days are Diamonds....we crafted for 4 days! The biggest and most challenging was an advent calendar. Now you may think this should be easy peasy....but each day had to be different. It is hard to find that many different numbers. In fact...my poor Num 23 is is waiting.
But oh, I love how it turned out! Just a dollar tree cookie sheet and some magnets. Hope you like it!

Soon, we will be using our advent calendars...how in the world is it almost Christmas?

However, I also this week (cuz you know, I didn't have ENOUGH to do!!!) - did some major Christmas shopping. We don't do much purchasing here....very small compared to many....but I got my Grandkids all done! My daughter went with me and boom, boom, cart full. Yeah!!! I already had my daughter done, so all that leaves is my son and a few close friends. Those are my favorite gifts to find!

Well, here we are at the start of another week. I hope (but I am not counting on) it will be a bit CALMER!! But hubby and I are taking a day of rest together today and NOT going or doing anything! Don't you LOVE those days occasionally??? I laugh every time I think of it because when I was much younger I used to want to go and do. I would ask my Aunt Barb to go and do with me and she would say, how bout if we don't go and don't do? I thought HOW boring!!

I Must be Getting OLD!

Boy, I cannot get caught up! I am still doing laundry from my trip....I still have the jewelry to put away....and I am still trying to get rid of a cold....but I am getting there. Of course, life doesn't slow down just because I am behind!
Our family is facing ANOTHER major challenge. Not a health issue this time, but still much thought, time and energy is being spent on it....I can't go into details now. Just know that because I don't visit like I wish I could, it is NOT what I want....I just have to do what I HAVE to do right now.

I got back to Phoenix on Monday....had chemo Tuesday and today...well, I am supposed to be resting, but I had to take a bit a check in with all of you!

Traveling and seeing friends is wonderful! but so is being HOME!

Hard to believe I am on my last day of my long girlfriend trip. 2 weeks in South Carolina and now the last five days with Karen of Some Days are Diamonds. We went to Tai Pan the first day and shopped. Oh, I LOVE that store. Then on to working on crafts. What a fun time I have had in Karen's amazing studio! "Karen, do you have ?????" and sure enough, she has it! It is like crafting at Michaels. I will show you when I get home the adorable projects we worked on.
I am anxious to go home though, see my hubby and my sweet doggie, Bentley. Karen's pooches, Harley and Jorja have tried to keep me company with lots of doggie love....I have enjoyed it so much!
I have visited many of you....but haven't been able to leave many comments because these are not my computers!!!....but I will get caught up as soon as I can.

I won this beautiful champagne bucket from Pam at House of Hawthorn. So I put my wickery pumpkin on it in the Living Room....

I bought the orange pumpkin from Walmart and put it where the wickery one was! I like the oranges together better....

See still tweaking....but soon we will be putting out the turkey things for November...where does the time go?

Leaf Tablescape

I put my Leaf Tablescape out. If you look back to last year I think it is almost identical. But it is one of my favorites. I would have loved to have bought the pretty leaf napkins at Walmart...but as I debated whether I should, I told myself I have leaf napkins, and they will just have to work. Sense won out this time!! (Don't give me too much credit though, I still WANT them!!)

A Beautiful Day!

My husband had the day off and we went garage sale-ing. I found some Christmas decor...cuz you KNOW I NEEDED MORE!
This afternoon we went to a gorgeous wedding. My friend Sally's daughter got married. Oh, it was so pretty and the bride was stunning. I was in LOVE with her dress. She is the sweetest young woman. I am so happy for her.

Pictures were taken on my husband's cell phone.

As I was leaving my friend told me she wanted me to have one of the centerpieces. I was tickled....she made them herself, along with the bouquet.

Well, it is late, and I am tired from a full day. Have a great weekend...enjoy the Lord's day and I will talk to you all next week!

You all had some great ideas. I would love a printers box...but I don't have one and really have no wall to put one. I wanted to keep then clustered together...so I just used one of my depression clear glass dish, put a paper doily on it and voila...

I have a question for all my decorating divas. See these little bottles. They were a gift the first year I was married from my husband. He used to work 2nd shift and would stop at a grocery store on his way home at times. They would be marking things down. I have had these bottles in a box...in a drawer. I cannot part with them, but I don't know what to do with them. I don't have any window ledges...and honestly, don't want to just line them up somewhere. They are so small (about 2 inches) they would get lost in a cloche...so if any of you have any brillant idea out there, I would love to hear it.

I went for a long walk, well, long for me now....listened to the birds chirping...I love that!
Anxious for this weekend....to spend some time outside with my hubby.

Oh...did you think I meant Christmas Tree? No, I am not that anxious....but I did get up a tree....my Harvest Tree.

Ro and I were shopping a few years ago and saw a Harvest tree in a very swanky decorating store. They were asking $300.00. We looked at it and then each other and said, we can do this. We each already had a small Christmas tree.

I didn't put up my tree last year, but I did this year. I am so glad. Then I decided I needed a pumpkin patch under the tree....

BTW - Bentley is a little put off with me, that is his corner to hide his chew toys!

I hope you are not tired of seeing Fall around our Home yet....I am just getting started. I told you, I love Fall!! I hope you enjoy seeing some of our decorations....

Do you remember when I found this glorious thing at a garage sale a few months ago? I paid $5.00 for it. The man I bought it from said his dad, who has passed, made it about 60-70 years ago. Yeah. I wanted one so bad.

I knew Fall decorations were just begging to be in this tool box. And I am so pleased with the outcome, I could barely wait to share it!!

Oh you can bet your Fall pumpkins I did! This apothecary is as you come around into our Great room. Filled it with mini (faux) pumpkins and some twiggy stuff....a Small T.

Oh mercy...I had these for my guest...and I should have sent them HOME with my guest!

Potpourri on the countertop, although, it doesn't have any smelly left...love that it is little pumpkins.

I just am enjoying going blog to blog...seeing all the beautiful Fall decor. I really think this is my absolute favorite for decorating.

Falling Around Our Living Room!

I already shared my buffet display here, but I thought I would share the rest of the Living Room. As you can see in the first photo...Bentley follows me everywhere...and that IS his spot to watch the world go round, therefore why the pillows are on one end of the sofa!

I bought this pumpkin several years ago with Ro. Kirklands had a buy one, half off second...we split it, so she has the same pumpkin. It is hard to see but the candle has leaves imprinted on it.

This is one corner in the room.. The candle divider and the acorn candles on the glass stands are always there. I added the wire pumpkins to the end table and my Fall girl. I got her in Michigan 3 Octobers ago...so I would remember the wonderful Fall leaves.

I know some of my dear followers have seen these decorations last year, and some the year before...but in case there are some new friends I will share them AGAIN!
This is on the other side of the sofa. I got this tea set from CB YEARS ago!

Same as my wheat candle holders. Ro bought them in SC...sent me a picture and I ran, back when I was running (kidding) to CB and got me a set. They are one of the first things I put out for Fall.

If you looked to the right of this curio (which I just love this curio!!) you would be back at the buffet.

Some time ago Myrna from Heirlooms asked me if I wanted to do a swap with her. Something we both made. Well, I was going out of town, and then Myrna went out of town, and then life went on....finally, I sat down and finished my gift and so did Myrna!

What a treat I got in the mail. I just adore this little book of inspiration and Bible passages. Take a look!!

This sweet musical symbol is the clasp to keep the book closed.

Each section has a tag stuck inside!

I sent her a wall hanging in Altered Art.

Fall-ing slowly and other "stuff"!

Slowing I am decorating for Fall. Haven't got the tubs out yet...but I have a friend coming for lunch and I had to do a squirrel tablescape. Last year when packing up my Fall things, I realized I had some acorn and squirrel items...so, a Tablescape was hatched in my brain!!

Hubby bought me the place card holders years ago.....

This is all BJ's fault!! She told us about that Apple Fritter Bread. I made French Toast and put some cooked apple slices in some Maple Syrup! Oh mercy...this was yummy!!

Back to a little decorating...I have had this glass bowl full of glass fruit from Kirklands for years...

Remember how I often say I still love Country decor...well see, I am a schizo decorator too!!

Saw this pillow at Bells or Bealls, whichever you prefer to call it!! It was on sale for $3.00 and I wanted it...you all don't care if I mix styles do you??

My school desk seemed to be begging for the pillow...at least for now!

This is a QVC arrangement. I have Christmas, Fall, and Spring.

I put it on the sofa table in the Family room....I think it is so pretty and the candle is battery and with a timer!! Oh, I love those!!

The beautiful runner was a gift last year from my friend Melody. I just love the browns and blacks and golds together.

When Sally and I stopped by HL, I picked up some supplies to finish a couple of projects! They have been PATIENTLY waiting!!
Months ago Karen and I found these cute towels at a boutique and we challenged each other to make a pillow. I finally got mine done! The flower is not my creation, but a swap gift....I cut a doily apart and coffee stained it. Even my husband said, "That is quite nice"! WOW!

I have blog envy....now, don't you snicker, you all probably have it too! I see all these gorgeous cheese trays and lifts...for vignettes....but I just frankly, don't have any!! So what is a girl to do?
Make one!
I had this drawer front. I found the extra large spools and painted them and then put paper that went in my kitchen. Can you say, love it? I really think this is cute and I am going to look for a square piece of wood to do one!! IF I had some old door knobs...(I am in my Mamie Jane mode here!) I would use those!!

Yesterday and today I have been sorting and organizing my craft supplies. What a job...and I don't even have that much! But I got it done! I do have a couple of things I would like to make for Fall decorating. Or, I guess I should say I want to copy cat!! Anyways, later for that.

Another Girlfriend Fun Saturday!

My friend Sally and I went to Kimberly Ann's Tea Room in Glendale. The day started out beautifully cool....but boy, it got hot!! We shopped around some of the neat stores in Glendale and then had a late High Tea. It was delicious and wonderful to just have girl fun!!

I have been in a crafting frenzy lately. I think it is the Hot weather and not being able to be out much....

Months ago I bought this magnet board...it is about 8X10....I finally sat down last night when I could not sleep - and collaged it. I love how it turned out. The button is a magnet. I want to make another one...but they have to be totally flat including the thread...so you have to find just the right one!

Only used what I had on hand....so the only cost was months ago to buy the magnet board.

did you think I fell off the planet? No, I am still here. I must admit that I had a little bit of a rough spell with this new chemo. But I am better now. I did make a treat for someone, but she doesn't have it yet...so I can't show it. I have been busy getting some papers ready for a paper craft day with one of the ladies I went to retreat with. We are going to put our pictures into a book for each of us.

It is still HOT. Really, I would love to show you pictures of Fall decor and things...but it is just too hot to even get the boxes out. We heard on the news today that it is expected that AZ is going to have a very warm and dry winter. Now we are always warm, but we do get some moisture and cooler weather, which helps with the wildflowers. So we will see.

I am trying to think of something to show you, because every post needs a picture....so here one is!

I must have been really bored, or heat stroke or somethin'....cuz I finished this pillow that I started before last Christmas. Actually, I finished another pillow but I need some stuffin' before I show it. And yes, I hand embroidered it!!

This is a gift for someone who LOVES buttons. Now I did see a pillow like this a while ago and that is where I got the idea...but I don't remember who. That was before PINTEREST! If you have a pillow like this please let me know and I will definately give you the credit!

Stuff, uh, I Mean Things I Have Been Doin'

A couple of weeks ago I went to Liz's fabulous home and we talked, laughed, ate, talked, and did some crafts.
These are some cards I embellished. I bought the note cards from Target.

I also made this sweet little tag...I took some stamping advice from Liz...and I do love how it turned out!

I totally understand why Liz named her blog, Rose Vignettes. She has a talent for vignettes throughout her home. I came home and said....I need to foof!!

I redid the top of the commode in the main bath. I am thrilled with the results!

Ladie's Retreat, or How to wear Ceekay out!!

Thursday afternoon I packed my ORANGE suitcase and went far, far away to Scottsdale Plaza Resort! My chuch Girlfriends group was having a Women's retreat. I am telling you it was NON-stop from Thursday at 3:00 pm to Saturday at 3:00! No, I did not make it to everything....but I gave it a good ole college try as my husband would say!
The group of gals I went with started with going into Old Towne Scottsdale and having dinner at Cowboy Ciao. Wow! that was a fantastic meal and let me tell you, the eating never stopped till I got home!

This was my shrimp dish...did I ever tell you how much I love shrimp??

OH MY GOODNESS....we all shared this!

The evening session started with meet and greets, praise songs, and a wonderful message on Hope. I felt that was timely in my life. I would say there was 125 women that attended. Afterward it was game time...I ducked out and went to bed in my gorgeous resort room.

After the morning session, we had free time....which meant LUNCH. We went to another fabulous restaurant at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. Then....oh, the angels began to sing....we went to Charming Charlies!!! There was about 40 of us converging on this store and we were there for about 2 hours! I NEVER knew there is a clearance corner!!!!! I DO NOW!

We came back to go swimming for a bit...it was 114 degrees. Then it was a quick shower and back for the evening meal...eating again!! There was an evening session and more fun time.

Saturday morning, after what?? breakfast! (Thank God for elastic!) the last session and farewell to all our new friends. Then my 3 pals and I went to Goodwill in Scottsdale and shall I say it....LUNCH! My son and his friend met us at another Goodwill where he took me home....I was done, done, done!!!

Oh how wonderful to have girlfriend fun! It was so great! I don't have a lot of pictures....I hope to get more. There was a gorgeous huge flatscreen in the room....my hubs would have loved it! I NEVER had a chance to turn it on!!!

I have been attending a ladies retreat with my church for the past few days. I just got back and I want to tell you about it...but not today. It was funny that the Theme was Rest and Rejuvenate and I did not rest! We were on the go the whole time. So, give a me a day or two and I will share...have a great weekend!

Me: I am going to be awhile...I just want to look. The only thing I am buying is Peach Tea.

La, la, la....time alone to shop, look at Walmart. Ooooh, starting to put out Fall....hmmm, I don't need anything but I wonder what is in housewares. I'll just look.

OH MY GOODNESS.....I can't believe this....Oh, I don't need them. But they are only 75 cents each. I'll just get two.

La, la, la....looking, looking...hmmm, where is that clearance isle...oh here! No, don't need that, nope...WHAT, what is this....is there???? Oh, I have to buy them...I only need two!

Later....Me: Hon, I need to run into the Dollar Tree.
Him: What do WE NEED from there...?
Me: I just need to see if they have 2 of these.....Oh Dollar Tree, please don't let me down!!

What did I buy????

I made the napkins just from some fabric at JoAnns. The napkins rings...I put those together YEARS ago. Placemats and Melamine Lemon dishes...75 cents each at Walmart.
Black plates...I have had.

When I visited with Liz she had the most fun and interesting centerpiece on her nook dining area table. I asked questions and started working!

I would suggest you get your tea or wine now...and I apologize from the very beginning. I am having trouble narrowing down some pics. You will see why....

First of all, Dana, our friend from Stone Rabbit sent me the most adorable gift. I had been looking everywhere but could not find....

the pink Hostess cupcakes! What a treat! and she included this amazing sign.

I can't wait to frame this and put it right above my computer! Thank you so much Dana.

Then it was our 38th Anniversary. My husband took me again to Flemings Steak House. It is a favorite of mine. A little pricey, so we usually save it for our anniversary.

They always give us a card with all the employees signing...

And take our picture!

They sent our cake home with us, because I had to have the berries and chantilly cream....

Do you all remember the birthday my husband said "Nothing says Loving like a new set of Four!"...the tires for the car?? Well this year he said, " Nothing says Loving like Communication!"

WE, got a new flat screen TV! he said that flowers on this TV will seem like they are right in the room!

And a new cell phone... I did really need this....He did get the sweet PINK cover for me! See I do have a bit of pink in my life!

Then today, Saturday, my son invited his sister, her children and us over for a BarBQue at his NEW PLACE (oops sorry, just a bit of JOY slipped in there!).....it was delicious! Of course we had to enjoy the pool at the clubhouse. It was 107 today!!

My grandchildren are fish! They swim so good...even though they sometimes still use the floaties! We had so much fun.

He won!!!

Hugs with Grandpa...he got there late cuz, he had to work!!

And birthday cake!! This guy just turned 9!!

So see, I don't get tired for NO reason! I really have been busy!! and I LOVED every moment of it!

Our Anniversary!

August 18th is our 38th wedding anniversary....I don't know where all those years went, but I know I spent them with exactly the man the Lord chose for me. I love my hubby more today than I did when I was a young 19 year old bride. We will be enjoying the day together - unfortunately first at the oncologist office, but then a little shopping and a fancy dinner out!

I have to do it when I can!

My friends Amy and Theresa came over today and helped me dust and wash all the "up high" decorator areas in our home. I am going to show the kitchen cupboards. They did change a bit....and see how shiney the glass is now?

This area did not change...I love the tins all together.

Nice clean lemonade glasses!

This whole corner is different. I used to have a little blue cupboard here...you will see another day where I put that....I was never happy with my milk bottles over the pantry...this is so much better.

Added the cheese crock. Not new, just new up there!Grandma's cookie jar got moved over a bit...

This whole corner is put together differently. See the tea kettle. $1.50 at a garage sale last week.

Have to think on what I am going to do with it....!! I was thrilled tho!

Life has it's Ups and Downs

I know....profound huh?

Today was such a fun day. I met with some fellow bloggers for lunch at Cheesecake Factory. The poor waiter...he had his hands full with 7 bloggers, all trying to talk at the same time and take pictures! We had such a wonderful time.

Laura brought each of us one of her precious strawberry sachets...with the yoyo top!

Last evening my husband brought me a gift from a co-worker. She had taken a trip to the Honduras and brought me back the sweetest coin purse and coins and bill. I have collected coins for almost 50 years...so this was a real treat!

So what was the down you ask? Well, unfortunately, on my way home I received news from my Oncologist that a clinical trial will not be available for me and that I need to go back on traditional chemotherapy. I am not happy about this news. I will be losing my hair again. I really wish I didn't have to do it, but there really is no alternative right now. The thing is, once the hair is gone, it is a long time before I will have enough hair again to not wear a wig.

I only tell you this because I know some of you are interested. Another bump in the journey. I will keep you posted on my Teal blog. I may not be posting as regularly at first until I get used to the treatment. But that probably won't be this week yet.

I am Day Dreamin'

Do you ever dream about things you would love to have? I have been doing that lately. Too much time stuck at home I suppose. I should daydream about a pool in the back yard...or crown molding in my home...and sometimes, I do. But what I really dream and wish about is....

A butter slab like my friends Marty and Liz. Oh, I want one of these so bad....

I keep hoping to find one of these old fans at a garage sale, but so far in 20 years...no luck!

I even have a place picked out for one of these!

Ooops...now how did he slip in there? Just kidding!

So, I will continue to dream...and probably add to the list....like vintage luggage, tea cart, ...you get the idea I am sure!

He's Moved - Woop-ee!!

Now please...don't get me wrong. I love my son. Tons. But you see, I have had a little secret. He has been living with us for a few months. He just moved into a gorgeous townhouse...we are so happy for him....BUT, we are HAPPIER for us!
You know, it is one thing to have your kids live with you when they are growing up...even if they stay for some years into the twenties...but then they leave...yep, it is supposed to do that!
THEN, they come back!

So what have I been doing in my joyous dancing and singing???

Cleaning the guest room....I think it is gorgeous! It is small, but it is me!!

This little Bible was a gift from me to my new in-laws when I married into the family. It was given back to me after their passings. The eyeglasses were my grandma's.

The little blue hanger that the dress is on....was one of mine as a baby. The purse and fan I used in a play that was set in the Victorian era.

I just adore this book....it says it all for me!
My husband says it is good...cuz he is an old thing too!!

Sorry, I tried several times to get a clearer pic...but see the little camera...my daddy bought that for me when I was about 7. It really will take pictures if I could find film to fit it!

My Little Ole Curio

I went to a beautiful wedding shower on Saturday. The home was spectacular! The hostess owns several LARGE curios...and had each one decorated stunningly! Made me want to come home and clean my little ole curio.
Now I LOVE this curio. I bought it YEARS ago at....KMART! I adore the rounded glass.
So I took everything out, cleaned and reorganized. Yes, a few things I put away...not gone forever...just taking a break!

The top shelf has my only pair of crystal candlesticks in my lifetime!....and the precious teaset was a gift from my husband a couple of years ago. I have shown it before...but it is just so cute! If you see the little china kitty and the glass swan...those were long ago gifts from my mom.

The violet color candy dish is Fenton...it was an anniversary gift for Cracker Barrel and is retired now. The little girls having tea...well, to say I love that piece would just be an understatement. Every time I look at it, I think of all the wonderful tea rooms I have visited with my girlfriends. I love crystal baskets. I only have 3, but they are precious also. The little painted dish in the front hold a silver bar from Tombstone...yes, I know it needs cleaning....another day!

Seriously??? Oh...just to precious!

This is difficult to photograph, but it is a MINI tea pot and cups blown glass. It is under a mini cloche!!

The next shelf has my husband and my 25th anniversary goblets...they are engraved...and the little shoes were from our honeymoon! The ruby colored goblets are from Romania.

I wish you could see this better, but it is my collection of sealife...I have had the little dolphin since the first year we were married...from Sea World.

The last shelf holds my salt collection....I only collect clear glass ones...

Creating Altered Art

I am really trying to learn the art of Altered Art. And believe me, it is an ART! How to layer...how much to add....I am just a beginner. But I like to try.
I made this mini journal for Karen at Some Days are Diamonds. I hope she will think I am learning!!

Seems as though I have been in a creative mood lately! It has a calming effect I think! Have a great days ladies. Blogger is S L O W today, and some of my comments just are not going through. I will try again later.

Fun on a Difficult Day

Today I met with my oncologist. You can read about that at My Journey with Teal. Anyways, it was not the best appointment, but my dear hubby made the day special for me. He is a Groupon lover. And he had purchased one for this Tea store in Phoenix.

What a darling place. I had so much fun picking out my bags of loose tea. They have green, black, oolong and white, all various combinations of flavors. I tell you it is amazing.

Oh, if they had this in orange...it would have come home with me. Have you ever seen anything like it?

We were looking for a place to have lunch and voila...there was this adorable Cupcake store. I love me a good cupcake.

You can see they were pretty well sold out....but I found 2 to take home.

Here are my four purchased bags of tea. They gave me the birthday tea in honor of their 1st year anniversary. They also gave us each a glass of ice tea that was fabulous!

One of the teas I picked was Indulge Yourself....yep, that says it for me!

Who wouldn't buy this, just for the name?

So here is my treat.....slices from the cupcakes...chocolate with bavarian cream and chocolate buttercream icing - my favorite icing! and Tropical Summer - Coconut cupcake with pineapple bavarian cream filling and coconut buttercream icing...OH TO DIE FOR! Oh, I should also mention the little black tea pot. I have had it for a while. I believe I bought it in SC. Anyways, she sells them and as I was walking out I mentioned that I had one but never used it. She said, "You need to use it...you will love how hot it keeps the tea." She was correct! Mine is an individual size and believe me, they are not inexpensive in my opinion, but now I know, it is worth it..plus, come on, it is cute!

My cup of Indulge Yourself tea...now, let me tell you. I love Earl Gray. But this tea, seriously, could knock it out of first place. I told my husband he is in serious trouble. This tea is so delicious, it doesn't need any sugar.
We ate lunch at Zipps, a local Sports Bar and Grill. The salads were delicious.

All in all, it turned out to be fun time. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you this. When I was eyeing the teapots at the store, my husband says, "honey, how many teapots do you need?" Isn't that hilarious?

Do you all visit Mamie Jane's? I am telling you, I am sure she is thankful that I am NOT her neighbor. I am sure she would think I was stalking her. I am AMAZED at her creations and I am constantly telling her! How she thinks of the things she creates is totally baffling to me.
Well last week she posted about her little snowmen she makes. I had to try. I got the clay...and did my best. Now, this is my first and I learned some things already....I only used what I had on hand...so I need to find something else for eyes and mouth....BUT, I think this is cute. You really need to see all the ones she has made....
Anyways....here is my snow bling woman!!

Seriously.....first it was the refrigerator....now, the air-conditioner. My husband took off the thermostat and we THINK he fixed the problem. But it was a tense filled few hours. It is just too hot to be without air conditioning right now.
You know, I would like to go to Hobby Lobby or Ross again some time this year!
I am fine now.....I always keep chocolate hidden someplace for just such moments!!

I am amazed at the Lord's creation! We again have eggs...5 of them.

A Sweet Gift from Years Ago...

When I worked for the Attorneys' Office, one of the advocates brought me the sweetest gift. Her sister made it. I have treasured it for years. I do believe that the talented woman has since passed...so I cherish it even more. I am amazed at the work in such a small treasure.

This little gem is made of simple felt. The embroidery and blanket stitches are so amazing. The size is only about 3" by 4". As you can see I have never used it. I am that way with things that I think are so cute....

Just stopping by to say Hi....it is quiet here right now....and still HOT. I already have done my work for the day. I am doing some creating...but too soon to share yet. Have a good hump day!

A July Project

I KNOW, you don't want to hear it....we are ALL HOT! We are all thinking of cooler weather...but I must be getting cabin fever, because the last few days...I have been on a creative kick.
A friend from church gave me a silver piece that was beyond usage for it's intended use. So I sprayed painted it ORB and made a floral arrangement - Marty style!
Do you know what it was?

I just had to tuck in some lace!

It is a old butter dish with a rotating lid!

I only used what I had in house...but I think it turned out pretty good...for someone who really doesn't know what she is doing!!

My Boomerang Album!

Last summer Karen (Some Days are Diamonds) and I decided to do a swap, just the two of us. In my basket full of goodies I gave her was an antique photo album. It was falling apart, but I thought she could use the cabinet pages for something.
Last winter, Karen and her hubby came to visit AZ for the races and my husband and I met them at Cracker Barrel for dinner. She had a surprise for me. She doctored up that olden album for pictures of my then upcoming trip to SC and Florida!
So I finally got it all put together and may I please say....Oh MY Goodness!! I am crazy in love with it! It took a little thinking to find just the right pictures, some resizing and delicate gluing....but here it is in all its glory!!
