Day Trippin'!

Yes, I know we are breaking all heat records.

Yes, it really is too hot to do anything.... however....

we went on a boat ride.  The Dolly Navigation tour on Canyon Lake.

This Bald eagle, a female, gave us quite a show....

We took our neighbors, Mary Ellen and Anthony with us...it is their anniversary!

The kids were throwing left over popcorn and the ducks were loving it...

So were the HUGE and fat Carp....

It was a beautiful trip....very hot, and we haven't moved much since we got home.....but the scenery is gorgeous!

Hubby said...let's go to Payson for the day!

Don't have to ask me twice!!

I LOVE Payson....just enough north to be cooler but not too long to get there!

It was a wonderful day.  We ate out on a patio with Bentley with us.  Went walking by the lake in town...met some great new friends, and I got a private tour of a scrapbooking store!

Life is GOOD and I want to live it!

We always take Bentley to the park....he is in smell heaven!  This time I took a picture of the monument to fallen Firefighters.

This is the old hotel.  I have never taken a tour...but I will one day...

Look at all that yumminess!

This is the lake.  I am sure it has a name...but I don't know it.

I think this was a herron...

Going into the weeds for some food I am sure...

Heading back from  Strawberry and Pine.

This is a horrible picture....but oh, what a story.  There is a FABULOUS scrapbooking store in Payson.  I always stop by for eye candy.  But they were closed being Sunday.  I was looking in the window....(oh Adrienne - you are going to LOVE this story....)
I saw the Advent cookie sheet calendar.  Remember, Karen and I made these.  So I wanted to get a picture.
As I am trying to take the picture, this woman says, oh, do you like those things?  Well, everyone is friendly in Payson and I said, oh, I always come to this store when up from Phoenix.  I thought at least I would look in the window.  She says...and I kid you not....Well, let's go in....I look at her, and she smiles and says....I am the owner!  I was going NUTS inside.....
So I went in...Barb couldn't turn on the computer, so I couldn't buy anything....but oh, the classes they have are fantastic.  If you go to Payson, you have to stop by Paper and Metal Scrappers.

No, I didn't forget to show this in my last post.....I got it in Pine.  There is an antique store I LOVE there, and it was open.  I always find something there and can afford it.  This must be coffee grinder month!
But, how big is it???

Oh, my goodness....I was in love.  And it was on sale!

Ok...go back to the lake.  A couple with their friend were walking their dog.  Bentley had a friend....so we got to talking.  (NO shock for me!)  They told me they moved to Payson on the hill 12 years ago.  We started talking about the antique stores and she said, you should see my pieces.  I said, ok, does today work?  so....at 3:00 my hubby and I went up the hill to their beautiful home on the mountain.  Their dog MaiTai and Bentley got along famously, well, I think she didn't appreciate him drinking all her water, but otherwise, good.  We looked at her family pieces, and sat on their deck overlooking the mountain.  It was beautiful.  We have new friends now, thank you Kris and Pete and MaiTai.

I can't wait to go back to Payson.  It is growing and changing too fast for me....so I gotta enjoy it while I can!  By the way.....best Dollar Tree in AZ as far as I have found!!

My Kitchen Antiques

This is for Shelia of Note Songs. She asked to see some of my antiques. So I cleaned and dusted so they would be presentable!

My mom's cook book and cookie cutter on the right...

My mini rolling pins....

This is a coffee grinder find today....it is from the Netherlands...Art Deco....we paid $10.00.  There were none exactly like it on Ebay...but I think it is definately worth more than that!  and we LOVE it!!

The wedding picture is my grandpa and grandma sitting, in their double wedding with my grandma's cousin.
See the button tree....that is from Shannon - Northern Girl with Southern Roots.  It is in a doorknob and from her daughter's wedding!
I have shown most of these items before....but never clustered together...I hope you enjoyed it!

This may not be the most exciting post..

for blogger land, but for us at Thinkin of Home....we are dancing in the "driveway"!

Bluntly, our driveway was a MESS!

We had had  it!  So we got our our tools, our work clothes, and my hubby started working!!

This was a big project.  Sweep, wash, power wash, grind cracks, caulk, wash again, prime, paint, let dry, paint again....let dry again!   All in the heat might I add....

Before....see the black stripe....that had been cleaned multiple times and he used every cleaner known to man.....

Now since my hubby is a good man of Polish heritage....shall we say...

TA DA SKI!!

Now, it isn't perfect...but neither are we!  Yes, it is going to get yucky again from tires and stuff.....but, hey......I am enjoying the beauty while I can!!

Thank you Hubby.....WE WORKED HARD didn't we????

Happy Father's Day all Blogging Dads!

I thought you all might get a kick out of seeing me with my Mom and Dad.  They are both with the Lord now.

I don't remember a lot about my Dad, he died when I was 9.  He was a friendly, jolly man....I hope I get some of that from him.

My mom was 36 when she had me, my Dad 46!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy.....

He Never Ceases to Amaze Me!

I have been married almost 40 years, and honestly, I do not have the man I married figured out yet!

The other day he came in, handed me an envelope and said, "this came for you".

I opened it up and began  to cry.  Hubby says, "I didn't think you would cry."

Wouldn't you??

I always thought he would get me the moon if he could, but now I have a star!
